Chapter 25: He's taken

Ayato finished showering and went to check the class group chat.

[Kamisato Ayato]: ?

[Lumine]: Oh right, I heard you like the romance genre, so like there is this very good romance manhua and I just want to share it with you.

[Kamisato Ayato]: Ah……

[Kaedehara Kazuha]: Ah yes, and since Ying-jie is so nice to you, maybe you should be nice to her back and maybe to her whole class too……….?

[Shikanoin Heizou]: …………

[Kamisato Ayato]: Just say you want me to treat y’all into a meal……

[Kaedehara Kazuha]: Woah impressive Ayato! I wasn’t really hinting much and you got it!

They planned to meet in the afternoon, the next day Thoma said, “Mom, I’m going out, won’t eat dinner at home.”

“Where are you going?”

“Class gathering.”

“You don’t usually go for class gatherings, what changed you?”

Thoma did not say anything, he nodded and walked out of the house. The others are already at the location, Ayato was a bit bored so he took out his phone.

[Kamisato Ayato]: Where are you?

[Thoma]: Train station.

[Kamisato Ayato]: Stay there, I’ll come get you.

“I’m going to get Thoma,” Ayato said, the others were too focus on their phones and they are probably more interested in the small cafe they were in right now.

“Yeah yeah, go get your Thoma,” Aether said, not looking away from his phone.

“Remember to come back to pay the bill for us,” Kazuha added.

“Don’t forget about your bros now you have your Thoma,” Heizou said.

Ayato smiled and walked off.

Thoma saw Ayato walking towards him from the opposite direction, he was wearing a coat and it suits him a lot. Ayato gave him a slight smile and opened his arms, “Hug?”

Thoma ignored him and walked off, there is no way he is willing to hug him when there is a lot of people around them.

“Come on, why are you so cold?” He heard Ayato whine.

In the end, Ayato’s cold boyfriend slowed his pace and took his hand.

They walked, holding hands and then Thoma asked, “The twins and the others are there already?”

“Yeah, when I arrived, Kazuha was already ordering his third dish.”

Thoma “..........”

They are almost near the coffee shop. Ayato suddenly stopped, Thoma was about to turn to him until he heard Ayato say, “Let’s just forget about them.”

Kazuha was enjoying his third dish, “The dessert tastes amazing, it has a good amount of sugar and the coffee is pretty fragrant too. But why isn’t Ayato back yet? The bill’s due.”

He sat by the window and noticed two figures walking towards the shop.

“Reach already?” Ayato frowned, he still wanted to hold hands. Thoma tried to get his hands off and went into the shop.

Once Ayato finished paying, they decided to go to the KTV.

“Thoma, wanna sing?” Ayato scrolled through the list of songs, “Do you wanna sing this? ‘Love Trial’, it’s pretty popular.”

Thoma leaned back slightly and his lips brushed Ayato’s ear gently as he spoke, “What song?”

Ayato did not move for a second. His housewife is clearly teasing him.

Class 2.5’s singing ability is already well-known since the class trip when they were singing on the bus. Kazuha excitedly picked a song and happily sang, just a few lines and Lumine was already covering her ears.

“Ayato, no praise?” Kazuha glanced at the two big bros' directions.

“The way you sang, I can’t praise you,” Ayato said blankly. He picked up a can of beer and drank it.

After Kazuha’s turn, Ayato was next. “Thoma?” He turned around and gave him a slight smile, “Sing with me?”

Everybody was excited until Thoma sang his lines.

The whole room went quiet.

“Thoma’s voice………..is pretty gentle, am I imagining things……..?” Heizou blinked.

After both of them were done, there was silence for a few minutes and then it was Lumine’s turn to sing.

The room became noisy again.

Thoma and Ayato went back to their seats, not saying anything to each other and then Ayato said, “Can I kiss you?”

Thoma mouthed to him, “Not now.”

Ayato’s phone vibrates and he frowned before taking it out from his pocket, “Who-”

A missed call.

From his middle school friend: Jiang

“Hold on,” Ayato said before leaving the room. Thoma watched him and then picked up the can of beer to drink.

Ayato and Jiang’s relationship is a bit complicated.

They were so close in middle school, very close. They sneaked into the school very late at night to get exam answers on the teachers’ computers, of course they got caught by the security guards.

No, Ayato did not get caught. Only Jiang.

Their relationship did not get complicated because of that. Okay, maybe it is. The teachers complained to Jiang’s parents and his parents were very strict. No matter how much Ayato tried to defend his friend, it’s no use.

Ayato redial the number and waited.

The other picked up, “Hey Ayato, it’s probably too late right now but remember the fight we had in the cafe near Inazuma High-”

“I’m sorry.”

Ayato took a deep breath before saying it again, “I’m sorry.”

There was silence.

“Look, I’m the one that should be apologizing, it’s fun. We haven’t hung out for a long time, do you want to go out together some time? Invite Itto along too, like we used to.”

Ayato “..........”

Without thinking, he said, “Let’s meet right now, Itto is probably busy.”

He left without saying anything. Thoma was still in the room waiting for him to come back but seeing that he hadn't come back for a while, he went out and found the hallway was empty.

Ayato and Jiang went out drinking, “Really, just forget about the past, it’s not your fault.” Jiang tried to reassure him but to no avail.

They squatted near the road and there were several girls crowding around them. The girls tried to get Ayato’s attention but he was too distracted by his own problems, “Sorry but I’m not interes-” he tried to tell them but they kept on crowding towards him.

Someone suddenly grabbed onto his collar and pulled him up roughly.

“He’s taken.”

Thoma’s face was thunderous, annoyance was written all over his face, seeing that they all stopped, he repeated himself, “He’s taken.”
