POV Melanie
Jayden is getting better; he can stand up now.
so that's a good thing but he is still up to 38° he refuses to lie down.
He told us that we would never break the curse if we waited until he was 100% healed.Jayden told us that he managed to break the curse by getting the flu. The witch probably didn't think he would survive it that's why she didn't add anything to the curse.
When Chloe woke up and got better, I told her what she missed. I kept seeing the same combinations again, again..., and again.
slowly understanding them better.
a few days later Chloe told me that her parents would be back in a week. This led to her being unable to stay any longer unless her dad was okay with it.
I texted my father, asking if it was okay that my two 'friends' stayed over. He immediately read my text and replied saying that I was 17 and old enough to take care of myself while he was traveling for work so he was cool with it. He told me that he'd be back in a week and I shouldn't worry.
Of course, I didn't worry and I wouldn't worry. I hated my father, now even more. How dare he leave just like that? Ivan isn't even here.
Jayden informed us about his parents. He told us that his parents died when he was 14. He didn't want to talk about the whole situation in full detail so we didn't push him into telling us.
He stayed with his grandpa but he died last summer. Jayden told us that he stays in a little house that has been left to rot. So that meant that he didn't have a place to stay. He told us that even with his grandpa he had to do a lot of things on his own because his grandpa only spoke Italian. His grandpa refused to learn English when he came here apparently scared to lose his true identity.
Jayden is 18 but had to redo a year because he skipped a lot of days that one year to go work for money to save up to buy a little place for himself.
That Monday Chloe came with 8 donuts and coffee but ate one on the way that's what she told me.
Since it was summer, we could use all our time doing the research. She explained her plan to us last Sunday and now she's knocking on my front door. Her idea was to start searching on Monday well only me and her. We both knew Jayden was too weak to anticipate.
the front door is open during the summer, and the first thing I hear is the door open wider I hear car keys and even when I was upstairs I knew immediately who it was, with a baby pink tracking suit but her zipper was not zipped all the way up so you can see a white tank top and a high ponytail with a few strands pulled out in the sides and front.
"Hello! I bought us donuts!" the blond yelled with excitement.
Chloe gets out of her white campuses.
she grabs her box full of donuts that she put on the stairs and runs upstairs like a kid.
"couldn't you say hey ?" she said exhausted while she put the donuts on my table. "I just had the best run ever! And I even stopped by Dunkin Donuts"
before I could reply she applied her lipgloss and vanilla scent "And don't be grossed out I showered after the run." she said as she looked at me repeating "Seriously couldn't I get a hi?"
" Well, I was abo-" I say before she cuts me out
"Well anyway, I tried to do the math so if I'm right I have 2 pink donuts for me to match my outfit," she tells me showing off her outfit " And 4 for you guys you can split in half if he magically wakes up," Chloe clarified.
