POV Melanie
"I'm home!" I yelled closing the front door behind me. It's the last school week before summer starts. I have no idea how this summer will turn out to be.
Everything has been so different.
Mom died last summer, we found her dead in an abandoned house close to our house.Well, if you could even consider this a "we". Basically, I was the one who found her because my father was too tired to find her and gave up.
typical.
Police gave up searching for how she died so mysteriously months ago.
But I won't let it go, it's my job to find out what happened.
And I know what you're thinking; I'm 17, not a detective.
But I have a good feeling I'll be the one to figure out what happened to my mom.
My mom, I just have this gut feeling that I am the one who will find out what happened.
I put my backpack next to the shoe rack our dad bought us-- so this house wouldn't be a mess.
He tries to be the mother in this household and it's kind of depressing to see.
Ivan is 19 and I am 17 so we can figure things out on our own.
Me and Ivan have a really good relationship.
We hated each other when we were little but now we've been unbreakable.
Ivan wants to move out but he got in a couple of fights with Dad when he talked about this.
I understand his choice he is 19 but it's hard to let him go too.
I go to the kitchen and see Dad stressing about the meal he's trying to cook.
We normally settle for pizza but he wants us to have a healthy lifestyle.
While everything is literally a mess.
When my dad sees me in the kitchen he quickly acts like he has everything under control.
Typical. Again.
"How was school, honey?" He asked
I sigh
"Cut the act," I tell him grabbing an apple meanwhile.
"What act?" He questioned
I take a bite of the apple
"The whole 'motherly' act, it sucks," I answer smiling sarcastically
When I'm about to leave I hear him mutter under his breath.
"I was just asking,"
I turn around and cross my arms
"How was school, honey," I mock ", honey-- something mom would say," I tell him like it's written in the dictionary.
I take another bite.
Raise my finger and point at him.
I tried swallowing as fast as I could to say what wanted to say
"You on the other hand never called us anything like that, you would either say our name or say nothing at all"
I turn around and ignore his talking.
I'm not in the mood for this.
I go to my room close the door and rest my head on the door I just closed thinking about my next move.
