I was a little scared to know where we were going. I went to the parking-lot where Petey told me he'd wait for me. I thought we were going to talk, but he said he wanted to take me somewhere. There's a big difference between going somewhere and talking. But I still got in the car with him, because I was curious.
Petey started using his fingers to go with the beat of the song that came from the radio. "You play drums?" I asked out of curiosity. "Yeah, a little." Petey said, like it was nothing. "I didn't know." I told him. Petey chuckled. "Yeah, there's a lot you don't know about me." Petey told me, turning down the volume of the radio. "Like...?" I asked. "Um well... I --" Petey got cut off by his cell phone ringing.
"Hello? You did what? How'd it happen?" Petey basically screamed. "You are going to do it all on your on. I don't give a shit if you have to starve yourself, or you have to stay up all night. You're doing it all on your own. You'll know how I felt doing it on my own while you were on vacation." Petey said, then hung up. But this time, something was different. He had a British accent on.
"Anyways, where were we?" Petey said, returning to his American accent. "You were telling me stuff I don't know about you." I said, as I studied him. "Um, I play drums, I have--" I interrupted him. "A British accent." I said, like it was something really important that he forgot to mention the first time we met. "Ha ha. Well yeah." Petey said, with a little chuckle. "How come?" I questioned him.
"Well, my mother is an American citizen. And, have you heard of 'young love'? Probably haven't." Petey said, with a grin. I gave him a playful punch. "My father was born and raised in England. He came here for a business trip. My mother spilled her coffee all over him, when he was rushing to get to a meeting. Instead of going to a meeting, he had lunch with my mother. And stuff kind of went together like that. Strangers to friends, to dating, to marriage, to kids, to widow." Petey said.
"I-- I am so sorry." I said to Petey. I grabbed his right hand, which he didn't use to drive. A smile apperead across his face. "We're here." Petey said. I looked out my window. It was a forest. "Why are we here, at a forest." I asked, raising my eyebrow. "Come on. I'll show you." Petey said, getting out his car. I did the same as him. We walked up the hill, which felt like hours. Turns out, it was only ten minutes.
The view, was just beautiful. It was a large lake, with big rocks and flowers around it. What I was seeing, looked impossible. "How did you find this place?" I asked Petey, after finally taking my eyes off of the beautiful sight. "Got lost on a camping trip." Petey answered, with a little smile on his lips. Everything just looked so beautiful, and being able to find it while lost at camping, just makes me want to go to camping. But why would Petey want to show me this?
"How-- how come you brought me here?" I asked him. "I... I don't know." Petey said, like he was confused. I wasn't sure how to reply to him, so I just looked at the lake. "Shit." Petey said, behind me. "What's wrong?" I asked him, sitting on a large rock. Petey just pointed up. I looked up and saw grey clouds. Rain. It was going to rain.
"I don't think we'll make it." Petey told me. I didn't ask questions. I just nodded. I thought we were going to stay at the lake, but Petey took me somewhere else. It was a large cabin.
"How'd you find a cabin in the forest?" I asked him, once we entered the dry shelter.
"Let's just say, I was a strange kid." Petey said, going over to a big wooden box and pulling out a bag of ship and tossing it over to me.
I looked at my watch. It was about to get dark soon, and who knew how long it rained. But me, in a room with Petey, it scared me.
Suddenly, Petey's phone rang. "Hello?" He said, answering it. "Um, we were just chilling, and then it started rain. We're in a cabin now." I wondered who it was. "Shut up." Petey said, like he was annoyed. Hmm, someone close. "Yeah, come join us." Petey then said, like he forgot the last thing they said. "Alright, see you then." Petey said, then hung up.
