HALF MOON LATER. . .
____A crackle of thunder was heard from above us. Minnowstar winced at the sight of the dark ominous clouds forming overheard.
Minnowstar felt a soft pelt touch her own and turned her head to see her mate and father of her kits, Aspenfall. The white tom flicked his grayish black tail and guided it down her spine while looking at her with his loving amber eyes, "Don't worry, we'll be in the moon cave visiting our ancestors by the time the worse of the storm will hit." Aspenfall reassured while nuzzling her.
Minnowstar purred at her mate's reassurance but a claw of anxiety withered through her belly.
Or it's just my kits, she thought worriedly.
"Don't worry Minnowstar! Me and Icepaw can handle a little rain, and we'll protect our clan leaders future kits with our lives!" Mewed a soft voice. Minnowstar turned her head to see Flowerpaw, Aspenfalls apprentice.
The small white she-cat with black patches fluffed out her chest which slightly messed up her well groomed pelt which earned a hiss of annoyance from Aspenfall.
"Don't you apprentices know how to keep you're pelts firm?" Aspenfall asked leveling his voice as to not upset the young and excited apprentice.
Flowerpaw let out a mrrow of laughter while still looking onwards excitedly. "Sorry Aspenfall! I'm just excited for the Moon Cave!" She mewed which gained the attention of her fellow apprentice, Icepaw, who was padding a little bit ahead of the group with his mentor, Riversight. "Yeah, maybe our ancestors will tell us how to defeat the rouges and get thunderclan their territory back." Icepaw suggested and Minnowstar flattened her ears at the memory of the violent words of the leader of the rouge clan.
The rouges leader, Ezekiel, had attacked Thunderclan while their leader, Ashstar, was weak and was acting completely fish-brained. Skyclan and Shadowclan had joined the battle and matched with the rouges but Thunderclan was given up by their leader Ashstar and in turn Ashstar was banished from the Mountain Range clans.
Riverclan and Windclan had made it to the battle late and from the gossip Minnowstar heard from the clans is that a Skyclan apprentice and Shadowclan warrior had been spies for the rouges clan this whole time, and had been giving Ezekiel and his band of crow food eaters information on the clans and how they act.
Minnowstar clawed against the fresh grass and sunk her claws into the dirt.
If Skyclan and Shadowclan cats were so easy to betray their clanmates and kin for some tyrant, what's stopping any of her clanmates from turning tail on Riverclan?
Minnowstar picked up her head and gazed her green eyes across the pelts of her patrol. Riversight smacked her blueish gray tail across Icepaws face and scolded him for speaking of the rouge rats in Thunderclan territory.
Flowerpaw was laughing silently while Aspenfall had his eyes glued to the skies as they grew darker and the rumble of thunder broke the silence of my mind.
What am I thinking? I trust every single one of my clanmates! None of them would betray me.
Minnowstar turned her gaze over to her slightly round belly.
Would my kits be born before the rouges were driven from the Mountain Range? If not, they would be thrown into the world with much horrible timing?
Minnowstar wanted her kits to grow strong and to always trust their clanmates and kin, but how could they do that if the possibility of traitors in Riverclan is making their own clan leader question her clanmates loyalty?
