L E A F

The wet morning dew that set the cloudy, misty day did nothing to appease a growing knot in my stomach. I shudder silently as I walked down the Rockslide from the den. Apprehension stirred in my stomach, and I couldn't help worried for something.

Something I did not know of.

I shook the feeling off, refusing it to discourage me and ruin the day—it barely has even started for StarClan's sake!

As I leapt down the Rockslide, the morning patrol consisting of Ravenwing, Mouseclaw, and Honeywisp walked past. The pale ginger colored she-cat gave me a nod of greeting before she hurried after the two older toms.

The day looked pretty glum as of lately. The ground was wet and slick with mud from last night's shower. The tree branches moved gently as a warm-chilly breeze brushed past. Pale gray clouds darkened the sky, starting the day off with a low start. But even by looking at the clouds, something just didn't sit right with me.

I didn't know what—just an itching feeling.

I closed my eyes and give my body a good shake, hoping to rid of the feeling.

I wanted to start my day off fresh and not worry about anything else.

As if I don't have enough problems on my paws, I tell myself, a bit annoyed at myself. Don't tell me it's a symptom or an effect from my seizures. I internally groan and trudge down the tilting path of Rockslide that led down to the center of the hollow.

As I neared the fresh-kill pile—which is nothing more than a ransacked pile of mush—I saw Leapflight making her way down the Rockslide with Wavekit set between her jaws. Stoneheart was behind her with Nectarkit in his jaws and Petalshade came down more slowly with Driftkit who stared at hollow in awe.

They were a moon and half by now—a moon and half in the nursery without being able to come out and head out by themselves. But today, they've finally are able to step further past the Nursery entrance.

"Wow," Wavekit whispered as Leapflight puts her down. "I knew the hollow is big, but wow, this is much bigger than I originally thought!"

Nectarkit simply looked around with an open jaw and wide eyes filled with so many emotions as looked around. Driftkit wriggled out of Petalshade's grip as she stopped besides Leapflight.

"Nectarkit, Wavekit!" he yowled, waving his tail rapidly as he ran over to his litter mates. He halted in front of them. "This is amazing!"

Nectarkit nodded his tail swishing faster than before. "Let's play," he mewed encouragingly.

Wavekit nodded in affirmation. "Yes," she declared and waved her tail to her brothers. "Follow me, Warriors, we have a mission to carry."

"Be careful," Leapflight warned her kits and gave them a stern look. "It's wet, so you three might slip and fall, so watch your step—and stay away from puddles! You're not RiverClan cats anyways."

The light brown she-cat let's out a huff of frustration. "They definitely didn't hear that," she grumbled. Stoneheart pads up to his mate and affectionately rasps his tongue over her ear.

"Love, they'll be fine," he murmured gently, and laid his tail on her shoulder and gently guided her near the fresh-kill pile. "I'll look after them, you and Petalshade just stay here and relax. You two have endured a lot in that den, I'll take it from here." He nudged Leapflight's shoulder.
