Pete Wentz was unfortunately a sucker for romance.
Nobody knew why he was so hopelessly in love with the idea of love, but he just was. He fell for a new guy every week, usually from his huge gay support group his mom made him attend every other day, because fuck, there was always a new gay guy, but none of them ever seemed to want Pete back. He didn't know why, because he was a beautiful emo guy with an amazing emo fringe with eyeliner which no girl or guy could beat.
Nobody wanted Pete Wentz. Especially not Mikey Way.
Pete wasn't necessarily in love with Mikey, but... well, he'd found some strange attraction to the hugely homophobic boy he couldn't even describe himself. That's why Pete didn't exactly stick up for Brendon yesterday- how could he when he was trying to get Mikey to love him?
Let's just say Pete Wentz was incredibly oblivious and continuously in denial. He knew Mikey was too obsessed with cheerleader Alicia Simmons, and he knew that he hated Pete, but he was too far up in the clouds to even take on board this information. The worst part was that Pete knew, but he refused to admit he knew. He didn't tell anyone. The trouble was, Patrick knew.
Patrick knew far too many things he shouldn't- simply because he was quiet, and he listened, and he took onboard body language and actions much more than the average person did, but that didn't necessarily mean anything bad, it just meant he had multiple secrets to keep. And that didn't mean he had trouble keeping them, it just meant he had far too much going on inside his head sometimes it was almost impossible to really think about himself.
Patrick Stump and Pete Wentz had been best friends since they were four. Patrick watched Pete grow into the hugely gay loser he'd turned out to be, as well as being incredibly obsessed with Mikey Way since they were fifteen. When Pete came out to everyone, people were surprisingly supportive- especially Patrick- apart from Mikey. Nobody understood why, until now.
Yesterday when Frank and Patrick had visited Mikey on behalf of Brendon, Patrick had managed to sweet talk the majority of the story out of Mikey, who'd actually left out the part about his dad dying, and just telling the ginger boy that he'd been bought up to hate homosexuals, and nothing could make his views change. Frank was right, and Patrick wasn't going to push him, but they had made an agreement that Mikey lay off Brendon.
And that was quite possibly the best outcome they could've gotten from Mikey.
As for Frank... well, he was completely smitten by Gerard Way, who was far too drunk to even remember Frank Iero, but sober enough to remember making out with Bert McCracken and therefore wanting to smash his head into the wall- he couldn't date Bert, or even be his fuck buddy, because he was twenty two and far too old to be playing little games with a man he didn't love, but clearly not too old to get wasted practically every night.
Okay, maybe we're getting far too out of hand naming all these characters with weird traits in just the second chapter of this strangely gay book, so I apologise.. Let's just skip to Jamia and Lindsey.
Jamia Nestor was currently sitting on her girlfriend's bedroom floor with a pile of Lego, ignoring the fact Lindsey Ballato was on her phone and complaining far too much about Mikey Way. The difference between Jamia and Lindsey was that Jamia cared far too less, and Lindsey cared far too much. But whatever, opposites attract and both of the girls were too in love with each other to even care.
"You know, if I didn't know any better, I'd think you were actually listening," Lindsey muttered, sprawling across her fortunately double bed, whilst watching her cutely oblivious girlfriend play with little blocks, putting them all together to form a cute little house.
