Gerard Way was officially fucked.

And there was no getting away from that fact, because his little brother was fucking held up in hospital with a large bruise on his eye and a painful chest which was almost stopping him from breathing, and Mrs Way was so fucking done with her eldest son, and Frank was on his way, and just.

He hadn't meant to punch Mikey, but the anger got the best of him and he just went for it, without even thinking. Perhaps it was because he'd spent so much time trying to deny the fact he had problems, so when his brother picked up on that and tried to make him knowledgable, he lashed out. It wasn't really Gerard's fault, was it? Only, his mum didn't seem to see it that way.

Mrs Way was forced to leave work early when Gerard called, something about Mikey not being able to breathe properly, so the eldest had to take him to the hospital. Now, Mikey was okay, but the nurses hadn't told the family what happened yet, and that was getting Gerard raged up again.

And as Gerard sat in the waiting room just outside Mikey's hospital room, he was alone. He had received multiple texts from Frank and Lindsey, who didn't care much for Mikey but was worried about her best friends sanity instead. Because Gee was messaging her all sorts of shit, saying how dumb he was and what had happened, pretty much ignoring the girls' attempt at calming him down.

Frank was mad, to say the least. He couldn't believe what his boyfriend was capable of- Gerard had never gotten physical with Frank before, so now this had happened it sort of intimidated the shorter boy to an extent that he was concerned for the shaggy haired boy with the beautiful eyes and the sweet yet concealed personality.

And now, Mrs Way was off getting coffee and calming herself down, Frank was two minutes away, Lindsey was talking about also coming to the hospital, and Gerard... well, Gerard just wanted to see his Frankie, and he needed his brother to be okay, and he seriously did not need a four hour lecture from both his mum and Lindsey, and so he really hoped his best girl friend wasn't about to visit.

He had his head down, his black hair falling into his eyes which were glued to the disgusting dark green carpet, hearing multiple voices of doctors and nurses, the receptionist talking too loud to the caller on the phone, high heels clapping on the floor in a way Gerard found most annoying after loud eaters. He was breathing too fast, his heart pounding spectacularly at this situation.

"Are you crying?"

It was a small boy, around seven years of age, with a hairless head and bright green eyes. He was wearing aeroplane pyjamas and had a cannula on his face. Gerard knew what it was, and his heart sunk a million miles down when he looked into those emeralds. The boy was smiling.

Gee cleared his throat and looked around at the empty waiting room. "Um, should you be in here?"

"The cancer patient room is down there," the boy pointed down the corridor with a grim expression. "I'm Jake, by the way. It's okay to cry, I do it a lot, mostly because I feel sick after treatment but my mummy says soon I'll be better and I won't die."

Gerard blinked. He was immediately drawn to this small child, talking so freely to him about death and his disease, and it made Gerard think about his grandmother and how sick she was before she died when Gerard was ten, and the way she promised she'll get better when she's up in heaven, and that Gerard realised that's what Jake's mum was probably talking about, although he couldn't be sure.

"I'm not crying, I just... my brother is in there." Gerard gestured towards the door to his left. "I hit him... I shouldn't have, I know that, but he was really grating on my nerves, and then he started breathing really heavily and suffering, I don't know what happened, and these damn nurses won't tell me."
