My eyes blinked from the flash of the camera. I was trying my best not to fidget or seem anxious, but my nerves were driving me crazy. I readjusted my blazer and looked down at my mauve blouse to make sure that it wasn't wrinkled. Natasha grabbed my hand to stop me from fidgeting, mouthing for me to relax.

"Iliana Calinao, we are here today to discuss the actions that you took part in against the United States, along with other countries. Captain Rogers and Tony Stark are asking that you are to be pardoned for your actions. Is that true, Captain Rogers?" Asked Congressman Wenham. According to Natasha, he was one of the committee members that was there for her hearing when she leaked the information the last time they were at D.C.

Steve nodded. "That is what we are asking, Sir. Ms. Calinao was a victim of Hydra, forced to do these criminal acts through mind control-"

"Captain, you do realize that the last time you were in front of this committee, you gave us the same sob story about Sergeant James Barnes," the man in the center seat said.

"With all do respect, Sir, it's not a sob story," Steve insisted calmly.

"General Scuddar," Natasha informed me, nudging her head towards the man in the middle of the seat. "He was also at my hearing."

"It appears it is. A deadly assassin who has been involved in many assassinations and acts of terrorism while under the control of Hydra, claiming that it was through brainwashing. It's the exact same sob story. So, we must ask you, Captain Rogers, how many more people will you bring before us with this exact same story?" General Scuddar questioned. "How do we know she's not a true threat who's using the exact same excuse?"

"This is not an excuse. She was kidnapped at eighteen, brainwashed, and used to bring Hydra closer to their goals. We have lived with Iliana for a year now and she has been a great addition to the team. She has helped us take down Hydra bases and is still continuing to help."

"Or she could be doing this to cover her tracks, betray you, and cause more corruption."

"That's not who Iliana is," Natasha stated.

"Regardless, the committee believes it's wiser for Ms. Calinao to be arrested for her crimes and involvement against the United States. With her skills and abilities, we find it will be a safer decision," announced Congressman Wenham.

"There's no reason for that. I will take full responsibility for Ms. Calinao-"

General Scuddar scoffed, "Captain, we trusted you two years ago with Sergeant Barnes and he is now missing. Do you really think we're going to let another one of Hydra's skilled operatives under your watch again?"

"There is someone who wants to speak on Ms. Calinao's behalf," another committee member said. "Please, bring him in."

"Where the hell is Tony?" I muttered to Steve.

"I don't know. He said that he was going to be here."

The doors opened and I looked behind to see who it was, but couldn't due to all the reporters. When the path cleared, I felt my stomach churn. My mouth dried up as he came closer and closer to the committee member's table until he was right in front of their table.

"State your name for the record," General Scuddar ordered.

"Zoran Pineda," he answered calmly. A man approached him with the Bible to put him under oath. "I swear to tell the truth," he announced proudly.
