Dick and Peter had finished their breakfast and Dick took their plates into the kitchen and washed them. After he put them in the cabinet, Peter offered him another set of clothes. Dick walked into the bathroom and changed before meeting Peter at the front door. "Okay, so Stephen's place, then the store." "Sounds like a plan to me."
With that small interaction, they left the apartment. Dick wanted a moment for Peter to lock the door before they headed down the stairs that led to Peter's apartment. "So," Peter started, "your brothers." "Yeah?" "How close are you guys? I read through that one comic I gave you and I've been looking through 'The Bat-Family' on Webtoons. Are you guys really as close as you seem?"
"That - it's complicated. Don't get me wrong, it's not like we're strangers to each other. We always have each other to lean on when we need it, we're brothers after all. But, it can seem like we hate each other. Tim and Damian haven't always gotten along, and Jason can be kind of closed off. I mean, I can't tell you how many times Damian has thrown a knife at Tim, and there was that one time Bruce nearly disowned Jason because he didn't follow the whole no kill rule. But again, we're a family in the end, and we can and will rely on one another."
"That...is honestly both adorable and extremely worrying." "Not the worst response I've gotten when it comes to my family." Peter laughed at Dick's reply. Dick continued to share anecdotes about him and his brothers until they came to a stop. Dick noticed there wasn't a note on the door like Peter had mentioned before. "There's no note. That's a good sign, right?" "Maybe," Peter replied, a questioning ring to his tone.
Peter went up and knocked on the door. They waited for a moment before they heard the sound of shuffling, followed by the door suddenly swinging open. Stephen's face morphed into one of annoyance. "Can I help you?" "Yeah actually. It's kind of a long and unbelievable story, do you mind if we come in?" There was a long pause where Stephen just stared at the pair.
"Fine. Make it quick." Before Peter could thank him, he opened the door wider and walked back inside the building, swiftly being followed by Dick and Peter. "So kid, what was so important that you had to come to me for it? I'm very busy." "Okay. Well uh, not too long ago I kind of asked you to cast a spell that erased everybody's memories of me because I was kind of a superhero who fought alongside The Avengers and a guy kind of revealed my secret identity and made everybody hate me. While you were casting the spell I had you alter it about eight times and because I had you alter it so many times, that kind of messed with other timelines that had people who also knew who Peter Parker was. So that brought in a bunch of people who wanted to kill me because other versions of me had indirectly killed them and that also brought in other Spider-Men," Peter took a long breath before continuing,
"The only way to fix it all was to make sure that everybody just forgot everything, so I asked you to cast the spell again without any alterations. That's why you don't remember me. Turns out portals are still opening, because now Dick Grayson-slash-Nightwing is here." During Peter's explanation Dick watched and gauged Stephen's reactions.
He watched them shift from annoyance, to confusion, then to realization before it settled into one he couldn't quite make out. It was a combination of a few different emotions. There was a small minute of silence before Stephen realized that the two were waiting on his response. "That sure does explain a lot. And I assume this is Dick Grayson," Stephen pointed to him.
"That would be correct," Dick confirmed, shaking hands with Stephen. He noticed Stephen purse his lips and tense before quickly letting go of Dick's hand. "Mhm, nice to meet you too, kid. Now, back on topic. That means we'll have to get you back to your own dimension-" another portal opened to the left of Stephen, one Dick was more familiar with seeing. Out from it stepped a tall blonde man.
"John Constantine, should've known Bruce was going to contact you soon," another man then stepped out. Well, more floated. "Yeah, well they need you back in Blüdhaven so that the heros aren't so stretched thin," informed Boston Brand, better known as Deadman. Bruce followed Boston, adorning his infamous Batman suit. His face held an expression that Dick could only describe as completely and utterly pissed.
"You," Bruce pointed towards Peter, "the portals were your doing. Do you have any idea how bad this is?" "Well, yeah, I mean they brought several people from alternate universes and then brought Dick into this one so.." "That wasn't the only consequence. Because of his time traveling abilities, Reverse Flash can now travel between our reality and yours. His influences on both realities could easily become catastrophic if we don't do something," Bruce explained.
