A slap in the face is more effective than ten lectures, it makes you understand quicker that I am not someone you can just throw to the side when you no longer need me...
Rubbing his cheek from the slap I had given him, Luther spoke up. "I know you're still a good person, Five. Otherwise, you wouldn't have risked everything coming back here to save us all."
Five sighed, a mixture of anger and guilt.
"There is one way. But it's just about impossible."
With much distaste and dread, Five worked with Luther to shape a plan. I had no intention on listening to this plan, but I did happen to hear bits of it, when they mentioned my name.
They were planning on 'switching the cases' with the two ass' Hazel and ChaCha.
They also had some plan that included that bitch, the Handler.
We got into the car. Luther driving, Five in the passengers seat and myself in the back.
It was silence on the way to... God knows where. That left everyone to their own thoughts.
I was thinking about how I wished that I were able to read people's minds, it would be cool.
Knowing what goes on in their minds. but then again if someone were able to read my mind, there would be some things that I would like to keep hidden.
To name a few examples, my past. And my intentions.
They are hidden, kept away at the back of my mind for a good reason, and I wouldn't want anyone meddling with them.
I also thought about how, not even a few days ago, I was thinking about how I wanted a normal, happy life, the life that everyone around me had.
But looking back at it now, I wouldn't want it any other way.
As crazy as it sounded, If not for my abusive 'relationship' with my 'boyfriend' I would have never had the delight to be 'blessed' with Five's presence.
And without meeting Five, I would have simply, never met him.
After a few hours, we finally got to our destination. I'm sad to say, I was a little disappointed. It was a road, with a phone booth.
That was it. Really?!
I would've thought, to meet up with this Handler that everyone spoke so highly of, you would do it in a restaurant or something fancy.
I guess I was wrong.
We waited... still nothing was said. I looked around the car for something to do.
"Luther?" I asked him. He sighed, and looked in the rear view mirror.
"Yes Janessa?"
I smiled. "What does a tall person, like you, and a burnt lightbulb have in common?" I said in a sarcastic tone. Batting my eyelashes, to seem innocent. Enough.
"I don't care? But I bet you'll tell me anyways." Luther replied with a bored expression.
I was battling to hold in my laughter...
"They are not that bright." I let out a cackle. Five rolled his eyes, but had the slightest smile creeping on his lips.
"Heard that one before!" Luther shouted.
A few minutes later, I had recovered from my hysteria.
I was trying to come up with more insults, after all he owed it to me, to have a little fun. Five sighed.
