Part 4

"UGH" Hayze's grunt was the last thing I hear before I blacked out. I wasn't out for as long as last time, but I had a splitting headache. Hayze was throwing our clothes into suitcases without a care like he was in a hurry to get out of here as soon as possible. My head hurt to much to sit up and fight him, he obviously was distracted and didn't notice that I was awake.

"Hayze we have to go, he's on his way and he'll be here soon" a male voice that was not Hayze's said.

"I know, this should be good, clothes aren't really important" I watched as he zipped up the suitcases and carried them out.

"Grab Tatum" he called back, I immediately shut my eyes and went limp as if I were still out. I felt strong arms pick me like a fireman would and carry me out.

"you're in charge of her, I have some things to take care of" Hayze instructed. The guy felt like he was getting to a car with me in his arms. When he was finally seated I started to stir, I needed to know what was going on. My eyes fluttered open and I was looking up to see a handsome face staring down at me.

"Hello Tatum" he smiled as he helped me sit up.
"Hi" I couldn't help, but stare, he was so handsome.

"Oh I'm Toby" He said a little embarrassed because he had been staring too. I was now sitting across his lap. I wrapped my arms around his neck to keep from falling off his lap, but I looked around really quick and didn't see Hayze anywhere.

"Hi, where are we going?" I asked smiling back at him.

"Um...I don't know I was just instructed to look after you" He replied.

"Oh" I bit my lip feel awkward like Hayze might come out of nowhere and attack both of us.

"Sorry as you can imagine I don't get out much and am not around anybody but Hayze" I added.

"It's ok, would you like to sit next to me, it might be more comfortable"

"I think it's going to be a long drive" He added. I didn't want to move, but I was uncomfortable and I was sure he was too.

"Ya it might be better if I move" I smiled. He set me down in the seat next to him.

"Thanks, is Hayze coming with us?"

"No he said something about taking care of somethings, I think he might meet us there" He replied. I relaxed when I heard this and did my best to warm up to this guy so we could talk and it not be awkward the whole trip.

"Are you a friend of Hayze?" I asked.

"Yes, kinda"

"Oh really"

"Ya, we haven't known each other a long time" he answered.

"Oh"

"How long have you been with him?" he asked kind of directly and then he quickly apologized.

"It's ok, we've together a year, Hayze ..." didn't know this guy what if told him about Hayze and he told Hayze how described him.

"What? promise can trust not say anything this conversation to Hayze"

" love Hayze, when he not on a raging rampage, I know he can't help , they're getting worse my fear of him is growing bigger than love him"

" understand, watched Hayze beat crap out my brother it was the craziest thing " Toby shook his . car hit a bump and all of a sudden my splitting headache was back from when first woke after blacking .

"Are you ok?" suddenly had a look of worry on his face.

"Ya my head just hurts really bad all of a sudden" moaned in pain.

"Why did black out?"

"Hayze, he slammed my back of my head into the refrigerator, during one his rages"

"How many have blacked out this week?"

"Twice, the first was slammed the second was the refrigerator" answered.

"We need to get you to hospital right away, you need to get a brain scan to see how damage he's done to brain" all of a sudden that is where we were headed, to the hospital.

"Wait, no" I said before hitting another bump and the jolt made me black out. When I woke up Hayze was still no where to be found, but neither was Toby. was in a hospital bed, wearing a hospital gown and looking up at the ceiling the hospital room.

"Hi beautiful, you're awake, don't worry you slept through all the tests" Toby said coming in the room wearing a doctor coat.

"Wait you're a doctor?" asked confused.

"Ya, don't worry have all my degrees and am fully certified for the job" he chuckled, laughed smiling him.

"That's good know"

" got the results back from the test we took, it doesn't look good. Hayze won't be aloud near you if could help it. Actually looking into getting him put in jai"

"I will be taking care of you these next few weeks while you recover and so I ca monitor your progress" he added. I just nodded not sure if I liked what was happening, though I know I should be happy.

"Where going to get you out of this place and to a safe house where Hayze cant find you to come after you" he added. He disappeared before I could ask any questions. He came back with a discharge slip.

"Here are your clothes" I took the bag and went into the bathroom. I came out dressed and ready to leave, Toby waited for me then he lead me out of the exit of the hospital. We got back in the car and this time he drove and we ended up in a deserted area with a lake and one house that looked like it had been abandon for a while.

"Here we are" he chimed happily. We parked next to the house. Toby led the way into the house.

"Are you sure were safe here?"

"Yes I promise" he turned on the lights and pulled our bags into the biggest room. We were both exhausted from the long journey.

"Ok, thank you Toby for all of your help" I smiled hugging him.

"Of course, I'm just doing my job, I was told to look after you" he chuckled.

"Right" I giggled.

"Do you want to go lay down and then we can go pick up something to eat if you want?" he asked.

"Yes that sounds lovely" I nodded and headed to the room where Toby put the bags down. I laid my head on toby's chest and drifted off to sleep.

"Tatum, did you hear that, there's something outside?" Toby whispered rubbing my back.

"Huh?" I sat up.

"I'm going to go check it out, stay here" he replied. He swung his legs off the side of the bed and leave the room. I panicked because what if Toby was wrong and Hayze had found us. I left the room and peeked out the window to find Toby talking to someone outside. I couldn't hear what they were saying though. The person was now starting to look like a guy he was charging toward the house and Toby was trying to hold him back, but he wasn't strong enough. Before I knew it there was a knock at the door and the guy was standing there and toby was laying on the ground out.
