Chapter Four-Guardian

"What we're you so worried about Jack? She's a lovely person!" North says.

He stays silent.

"Was Frost talking about me?" I ask.

"Oh yes! He said he didn't want to work with you for the dumbest reason." Tooth says.

"Are you in love with me, icebox?" I ask, trying not to burst out laughing.

Jack scoffs. "As if. I don't even like you in the first place."

"Yeah, you made that clear ice cube. Now, what am I doing here? And what's with all of you saying that I'm here to work?"

"The thing is Y/N..." North starts.

"You have been selected as a new Guardian!" Tooth finishes.

"A Guardian?" I ask. "Why would I be selected as a guardian? You have many people to choose from! Like the Groundhog-"

"Don't!" Bunny says. "Look, if Manny chose you, that means we need you on the team for some reason. Just don't pay attention to what Jackson has to say. "

I look over at Jack and he's pouting like a baby. What is his problem with me? I didn't do anything to him. Besides, it's not like I have a choice to turn Winter to Spring, that's just how things work.

"As long as everyone is fine with me being a Guardian, then I'm okay with it." I say.

"Great! Then that means we have a new Guardian!" North cheers.

Then trumpets start blowing, elves and yetis appear out of nowhere, and they start celebrating.

"So what is a Guardian supposed to do?" I ask.

"We bring joy to the children!" Tooth says.

"And spoil them too." Jack joins in. "What is she even going to do for the children? Spread little flowers around with her wand?"

"That's exactly what I do, ice cube. And it's not just a wand what I use, it is the only thing that can spread Spring." I say.

He stays silent for a moment frowning to himself, as if in thought.

"And no, there is no way that you can break it. And if I see that it is somehow broken, someone better start thinking on how to fix it."

He groans. "Fine! I will work with you, but I won't promise anything."

"Now that Jack has finally agreed on working with you, it is official. You are a Guardian now!" North says with excitement and everyone starts cheering. I just stand there awkwardly.

I honestly don't know if anything about this Guardian thing is supposed to be good or bad, but oh well, I am officially a Guardian.

"So what now?" I ask.

"Now comes our task but first, I want to talk with you about something Y/N." North says.

I give him a confused look when he tells me to follow him. He talks about his center and stuff like that, I really didn't understand until he asked the question.

"What is your center?"

"My center?" I ask. "I don't know. I guess I have never thought about things like that before. And how can I even figure it out? When did everyone figure out their centers?"

North laughs. "If you don't know yet, then it will most likely happen over time. You will just have to be patient until the right time comes."

I nod. I still don't understand how this is supposed to be a job, but it is kind of fun to think about things that I have never considered in my life.

"Now, let's get to the real reason of why a new Guardian was chosen. Let's head back to the others." North says, walking towards the doors.

I follow him out, and meet with the others again.

"So, Y/N, do you know about Pitch Black?" Bunny asks.

"Yes. I do. Why?"
