Alani's POV

Before I got up from my seat, I glanced over at Taehyung who was still indulged in the conversation with the lady.

"Shall we?" Ansel whispered, loud enough for me to hear.

I looked up at him, his lips slightly curved into a soft smile as I got up and he waited for me to make the first step towards the door.

Outside was polluted with noises from everything happening around us, cars zooming away and a honking could be heard once in a few minutes but it was much more peaceful than inside.

Ansel removed a packet from his pocket, a shiny small packet.

Before opening the plastic film around the pack of smokes, he smacked the pack filter-side down onto the heel of his palm rapidly for roughly 10 to 20 seconds.

He tore off the plastic layer as he spoke. "Are you okay?" He asked, pulling a cigarette out of the packet.

"I don't know actually, I thought I was but sometimes I just feel like I'm doing something wrong but I don't know what it is." I sighed, lightly stomping my feet on the concrete.

He held the filter end of the cigarette on his lips, "I think you should ask yourself one question." His voice came out slightly muffled as he still had the cigarette clenched with his lips and ran his fingers through his dark locks. "Is all this worth it?"

The look he gave me, was one of  pure concern.

That's what I've been chasing all my life, care. Someone to just sit and listen to me, not telling me what I'm doing wrong but just listening to me and doing their best to understand me.

"You don't need to think now." He chuckled as he saw me frozen in my spot and lost in thoughts. "Whenever you're in your own company in a calm setting, think about it. And if you conclude that the thing isn't worth it, you pick yourself up and live life for yourself. Hm?"

I smiled at him and took in a long stream of air, "thank you Ansel, you can't imagine how much I needed these words."

The eerie feeling in my stomach was long gone, it felt like I was breathing after a long period of time.

He responded with a smile and held my hands in his, "I am glad I could help and whenever you need someone to talk to, don't hesitate to contact me."

I nodded in appreciation as he turned to the door, gesturing that we should go in but then a thought crossed my mind. "But I don't have your contact number. "

"You can get it from Taehyung, don't want him to think I'm hitting on his partner by giving her my number." Was his reply, causing both of us to chuckle.

"What was the joke?" A gravelly calm voice louded, pulling our attention towards the speaker.
