"No, I didn't." I whispered, wiping my nose with the soft tissue as the officer looked at me while Namjoon just stood next to me — caressing my arm.

The lady scribbled something in her notebook but I could read it from her face that she wasn't convinced or satisfied with my answer. "Ma'am, we found a message in her phone in which she asked you to meet her." The words had barely left her mouth before Namjoon guffawed. "She already said she never met Amy but instead of being productive you're here, repeating the same question over and over again."

I glanced up at Namjoon, the corners of my lips forming a frown.

"Mr. Kim-" The officers voice faded as she pulled out a ringing phone out of her pocket and slid her finger across the screen before gluing the phone to her ear.

Confusion lit up her face but I couldn't quite understand the matter or hear her voice as she took long strides towards her Jeep — without giving us a second glance she drove away.

Namjoon's gaze was still fixed on our empty porch until I moved away from his embrace. "I will get some rest."

He hummed in response, still looking out.

Namjoon's POV

Swallowing a lump of fear I continued staring into the nothingness. Thousands of questions flew over my head with no answers. What did the investigating team find. Who is behind all this. No answers, just huge question marks.

The last time I saw Taehyung, he was unfazed probably cause he expects me to fix everything as always but I can only fix a problem if I know where the error lies.

Author's POV

She stood there, looking at the despaired man, in satisfaction. This is the last day you're gonna be breathing in the fresh sweet air of freedom. She laughed internally. Everything she planned, is nearly the reality. She was happy but still the thought of seeing him behind those bars was making her heart punch her chest and eyes swivel in the room.

I am just playing the game they designed then why does it feel like the shadows of guilt is trying to engulf me, strangle me.

I have to move away from him before I grow weaker. They deserved this for bringing pain to so many innocent lives. She thought to herself before Namjoon turned to her and she lost the train of her thoughts.

He wore the same warm smile, his dimples deepened, but it scared her now. His dark outgrown locks fell over his forehead and bounced as she approached her.

"It's late, get to bed." He wrapped his arms around her waist, his cold skin sent shivers to her spine and weakened her in the knees. "I have to deal with something, I'll be back in a few hours." He whispered with his lips pressed against her forehead. There was a pause in this talking before he continued. "You must be tired." His fingers were twirled in her soft strands.

"Yes." She nodded

Namjoon turned his head, looking up and around the house, his outgrown locks falling over his forehead. He flicked his wavy hair back and swiftly moved his legs across the Mahony floor as soon he heard Alani closing the door of their bedroom.

Once outside, his gaze returned to the place he'd called home for so long. He could hear his own breathing and the rush of blood in his ears. Taehyung stood — in a black button-down shirt with the sleeves rolled up— leaning against the gleaming surface of the black car, his shades on, making the world appear darker than it already was. It was late at night. Without the moon, the sky was littered with stars.

Taehyung’s almond-shaped eyes were fixed on the man. Taehyung rolled his eyes before shouting. "Are you finished, sir?" His voice was tinged with irritation, which Namjoon picked up on.

"For now, shut that hole in your face. " The elder one reacted, his voice becoming louder to which Taehyung wrinkled his nose.

The air was chilly and frightening, as if warning them of the impending chaos.

Namjoon looked at Taehyung, "You think this will be solved this easily?" He expressed his worry which he doesn't usually do.

You're doubting Dad?" the younger one asked, perplexed.

He laughed.

Dad is always correct; he can never make a mistake. Or he always was correct.

The brothers were still having a discussion when the roaring of a powerful engine filled the air and flashing lights lit up the dark road.

While the brothers were perplexed by the stranger's sudden appearance. The second ringmaster stood behind the see-through curtains in the house, a sinister smile of contentment on her lips.

A/N
This chapter isn't as long as I had hoped for it to be.
I've just had a lot on my plate lately. I had to deal with someone else's drama because I chose peace over everything else and cut them off. And I learned from someone that they are asking their followers to report my account, which is, in my opinion, a low and pathetic way to use their following. I'm thinking about changing my username, not because I'm intimidated by their account being slightly "bigger," but because I want to put it all behind me and move on. My new username will be flawlesstae if everything works out well.

Sorry for that long message lol. I hope you enjoy this chapter <33
