Chapter 8

P.O.V Ash

Hiding in the girl's bathroom I look down at my underwear, the red thankfully hadn't gown through onto my pants.

Good thing dad told me about this, and thankfully he makes sure we are prepared for stuff like this.

After putting the dirty clothing into a shopping bag I began to prepare my clean underwear, and thankfully no one is in here to listen to the crinkly packaging.

"Stupid biology, stupid cramping, stupid bleeding, I am missing art because of this"

Once finished I flush before going to the sink, before heading out I fix my bag along with my shirt.

The bell rings and I quickly run outside, waiting for my siblings I sit on the swings.

I watch the line of ants as they crawl around my feet, do ants bully each other?

"Hi, you're the little red-haired girl's older sister, right?"

I glare up at the smiling face boy, his blond hair pulled back into a ponytail to show off his pale face.

"Yeah, what do you want vampire boy"

He widens his eyes before they flash red, the smile he has only grown.

"You know what I am? Amazing! I was hoping so, I and my family have just moved here, and I was wondering if you would like to be friends"

He shakes my hand before tilting his head, the questioning look I do not want to see.

"Why do you smell like food?"

I facepalm before poppy runs into my arms, and of course, she asks the same thing.

This kid is like eight, and Poppy im not surprised.

"It's a female thing for humans, ok?"

Before either could ask anything our other siblings run to us, Samantha whines as she sees the boy.

"Walter, are you bothering my sisters?"

He panics and begins to shake his head no, he then says goodbye before running off.

"I wasn't trying to run him off, geez"

She sighed, soon we all look up as Oakley and Poppy shouted.

"PAPA!"

The look on Kane's face after they shouted that, Im not sure if he is surprised or scared.

"Are we allowed to call him that?"

Sam questioned, I only shrug because I have no answer.
But Sebastian speaks up, keeping his eyes on our younger siblings.

"We could ask him, but if we don't want to call him that then we don't have to"

He's right, he has been helping take care of us.
Dad has been kinda off, so Kane has been caring for us and him.

We make our way to the car as he buckles the littles in first, but as the twins climb in he pulls me to the side.

The concern in his eyes speaks before he could, but I waited for him to verbalize his thoughts.

"Did you get hurt? You keep tensing up and I smell blood, who did this? I'll talk to them"

I smile up at the tall softy, the day he hurts dad will be his last day on earth.

"I'm not hurt, I am a young woman, I got my first period- Dad says it's natural, just kinda hurts and is super gross"

For a moment he relaxes, but he then freezes up.

I guess this must be weird for him, he didn't grow up with any females teaching him this stuff.

"Ah- ok, I am gonna text your dad to give him a heads up, also if you want to sit out on the pack training you can, ok?"

I give him a nod before getting in the car, as we started driving I decided I would ask him.

"So, with you and Dad's relationship, we don't know what to call you, if we use your name it's okay but feels a little weird"

He stays quiet for a minute, his face serious as he thinks.

I'm just worried he's gonna hurt himself, he's more of a do first think later guy.

"Well, Oakley and Poppy call me papa now, I mean- if you guys don't feel right calling me that or by my name then you could give me a nickname, what every makes you comfortable"

Sam begins to think, but Sebastian doesn't give it a second thought.

"Will you be ok with us calling you papa? Do you wanna be our papa"

Samantha seconds him, and with a bright smile, Kane replies.

"I would be so lucky to be your Papa, and Ash, I understand if you don't want to call me that right away, take your time"

When we got home Dad had a hot shower ready for me, and I get to pick the movie tonight too.

But before my shower, Dad sat with me on my bed.

"He's dropped his act, he shows so much more emotions now, the twins are also calling him papa along with the other two"

He smiles as his hand rubs my back, the warmth making the aches go away.

"He even told me it was ok if im not ready to call him that, it's nice but- in a few months we moved and all this is new, I just feel like something will happen just as i get comfortable"

Dad drops his gaze before pulling himself away, as his eyes squeeze shut he takes a deep breath.

"You cannot let your siblings know, but- HE has been caught, and is still alive"

My hand's tingle as my eyes begin to burn, and I bit my tongue as tears begin to roll down my cheeks.

"No- not him, he can't be here, all he does is hurt us"

I stand up, covering my face with my hands as I hold back cries.

I go to shout at him but Kane walks in, he rests his hands on my shoulders as I feel dads arms wrap around me.

"He told you, we know this is a shit load of responsibility-"

"Kane!"

"She's ten, almost eleven, a little cursing is fine- off track, you have your hands full as a big sister, and protecting your siblings is what you do, and knowing that this man who has hurt you all before is near you again, it's a lot"

They both held me as my body trembled, angry, and scared.

"With us around you don't need to be strong, okay? Forcing your feelings down does nothing good, but I know it's hard to open up and relax- but you have to, so you stay in control, right now you are losing it, you are making the paint peel off the house and birds are dropping around us, you need to take a deep breath kid"

I take in a deep, shaky breath.
As I let it go my muscles begin to relax, I just stand here, with both of them holding me.

Dad has always been here for us, for me.
But now that feeling is stronger, with two parents to hold me.

They tell me I don't have to be strong around them, but with them and my siblings all together I feel more myself.

I feel powerful, all because I feel safe and loved.
