Dragons Heart

Chapter 10

I take in a few deep breaths as heat builds up in my chest, scales covering most of my body as I loosen my hold over myself.

As I release a roar into the air with my back arched and claws spread out, a blast of fire comes from my mouth as if it were lava, and I the volcano.

I swallow back as I stopped myself, I heave a deep breath as I steady myself on my feet.

Finally, I stay standing and in control, this may only be a step but it is in the right direction.

I look to the wooden targets, narrowing my eyes as the shadows on my hands grasp theirs.

As I exhaled I squeezed my hands shut, crushing the shadows and the targets in seconds.
As my hands relax I let out a sigh, as I calm myself my scales fade as my claws retracted.

Loud cheers and clapping startle me, as I turn I find my kids cheering at the side of Kane and his father who clap their hands.

"Dad, that was awesome!"

Alex shouted as she jumped into my arms, the twins soon hug around my waist as they agreed.

"Daddy I've never seen you use your shadow like that!"

"You could breathe fire! That was so cool!"

As Kane and his father approached us, Oakley and Poppy slammed into my legs.

"Daddy, you roared so loud!"

Oakley squeaked, and Poppy squealed as she spoke.

"Daddy so brave"

I smiled as I held them all, my heart happy to know they weren't scared.

Kane kissed me before his father handed Sage to me, his eyes wide as he continued to clap his little hands.

"Amazing job, im glad to see you with more confidence in yourself, Winter"

I thanked him before Kane began to speak, his arm around my waist as he did.

"I knew you could do it, I know you have abilities still to work on, but this is a huge step towards fully releasing your hold on those chains that separate you from the rest of them, I think the rest of our pack and the neighboring packs can agree"

Before I could question him, his father holds up his phone to show me the packs altogether.

"We know how you like to train far from them as to not scare them, so we had them watch from a few cameras we have set up, the other packs trust you, seeing you work so hard on your control they trust you, we all do"

I wanted to be angry, I wanted to yell at them for spying on me.
But I didn't, I didn't because they only did this to protect me and Sage.

To get them all to trust us even if we are dragons, to show we aren't all evil.

"You've been out here since sunrise, let's head in to get have lunch, Sage gets to show off those chompers and rip through some meat!"

Sage squealed at that before we all headed back, as we ate our lunch we were all surprised.

"Da- da, Pa-pa"

Kane looked so proud of him, I was too but I couldn't help but cry.

"Good job baby"

I said with a smile, I sniffled as tears just fell from my face.

"Dada"

He said again, his hands reaching for me as he began to bounce in his seat.

Kane kissed his head before passing him to me, his little hands smacking my cheeks as he grins.

"Okay, no more crying, I get it"

I laughed, he slams his forehead against mine before giving an adorable grunt.

Ah- there's the dragon version of comforting.

Kane's brother grimaced as he rubbed his forehead, he gets lots of loving head butts from sage on a daily bases.

"Maybe tomorrow I should start working on training with Sage before he gets old enough to train with the others, he could kill the pups his age"

Sage giggles before giving a small growl, Sebastian who was in the bathroom comes running to us.

"Dads!Dads!Dads! New development! I HAVE HAIR! is this normal? Is it a wolf thingy? Is it from my shots?"

I facepalm as Kane looks confused, so confused he asks him where?

"Down here? "

Ash gags silently, and Sam snickers.

Zachary and their father sigh as Kane is confused, I rest a hand on Sebastian's shoulder with a soft smile.

"How about we talk about this after lunch, don't worry, it's normal, and it just means you are maturing"

"Yep, we already got that conversation because girls mature faster"

Ash says to comfort him, Which it does.

"Kane, children go through puberty, some things like hair growth starts sooner than everything else"

Kane facepalms as we all laugh, Sebastian returns to his lunch as if he didn't just proclaim he had pubic hair.

"Speaking of maturing, we have a few birthdays coming up, Ash is turning eleven, and the day after her birthday is Sage turning one"

Ash points as she points a fork at me, she tells everyone what I left out.

"And Dad turns nineteen a week later"

I wrinkled my nose as I point a claw at her, my eyes squinted as we stare at each other.

"But you and your brother are the ones we are throwing a party for, I don't like having parties for myself, you better have that gift list ready young lady"

She crosses her arms as she scoffed.

"Bite me, you do this every year, I don't want anything"

Sage screeches as he throws a roll at her, his party pants ready for a fight.

"Sage says no party no peace, you have no choice Ash"

She groans as Sage giggles, she rubs her temples before speaking.

"What do I even ask for? I have a home, clothes, food, my family, and freedom, I even have two parents so what else? A useless toy or more art supplies, shoes?"

"Well fine, you might not know but I already have a few good ideas"

I smiled, she just sighed and slid down in her seat.

A/N new chapter, slowly working on more chapters but with a preemie in the NICU things have been crazy, so hopefully, this chapter is alright for now. Thank you!!
