Elena's POV
He opened the car door for me, like he always does.
I know it wasn't a big deal but I thought he was so sweet. "Thank you" I said as I got into the car,
"Of course" he smiled. He shut the car door and I put my belt on. He got into the drivers seat and put his belt on."Your not going to speed again are you?" I asked him worriedly. "Maybe not" He replied with a massive smirk on his face. I rolled my eyes at him and pulled out my phone, I saw a text from bonnie "Wanna go to the grill with me and care later?" I completely forgot to tell my best friends where I was going. Well I didn't even know where I was going so I just texted back "sorry Damon's taking me somewhere, rain-check?"
Damon had already started driving, 60 kph over the speed limit I might add. "Damon slow down" I told him "you're no fun sometimes" he said while slowing down. I just started thinking of where we could be going all I knew was it was a few hours away and we were staying for the weekend.
Damon's POV
I wanted to make our one year anniversary unforgettable, I was incredibly in love with her, she made me so happy I wanted to return the favour.
So I decided to surprise her, with a weekend away somewhere she loved. I had sent the best event planner I know, Caroline over before us to set some stuff up, I made sure she knew to be gone before we arrived.
I was excited for elena's reaction.
-3 hours into the drive-
Elena had fallen asleep and Damon was still driving
He looked over at elena and smiled, she was always even prettier asleep. Well that's what he thought.Elena's POV
I woke up and rubbed my eyes "morning sunshine" Damon said in a soft voice. "How long was I asleep?" I muttered. "About an hour and a half". I looked up at my surroundings and recognised them. I sat up "Wait are we going.." I tried to ask but Damon cut me off "to your family cabin?" He finished my sentence perfectly.
I looked at him and he nodded. "Well we're already here" he said. I turned my head to my window and saw we were driving down to the cabins gates.
Damon's POV
I looked at her and she looked ecstatic, she had the best memories here and in that moment I was so happy I brought her here.
I continued driving down the long road and made it to the gate, I got out the car and used the key to open the gates. They were old and rusted and only opened if you had the matching rusty key.I pushed them open widely and got back into the car, elena still had that overjoyed look on her face. She hadn't been here for a long time and loved it here.
I drove in, got out my car again shut and locked the gates and then drove down another road, but it was shorter and eventually pulled up at the cabin.
