Defective: A Tough Decision

Night falls on Konoha, and clouds disperse from the air, allowing the moon to hang high into the sky. Twinkling stars can be seen above the suburban areas but not in the city, where the artificial lights block them out---something about light pollution that [Name] has yet to learn.

But from her home, she can see the brightest star in the galaxy. The star her grandmother deems theirs, and if she ever needed help, all she has to do is ask it.

It's one of those times. Itachi seems more reckless than ever, and Deidara isn't helping his wild behavior either. Itachi is more clingy than ever with her ex around, but she can't do anything about it. Itachi makes her feel helpless. Deidara makes her feel hopeless.

She's drained.

So tonight, she stands in her front yard, staring up at the brightest star.

"Please, please help me," she speaks softly with her hands clasped to her chest. "I can't choose a side. If I coddle Itachi, Deidara gets mad, and if I indulge Deidara, Itachi gets mad. I'm only one person."

She sighs, and the cold air nips her skin. Coming out in her pajamas isn't the brightest idea, but she needs this time to herself.

"What should I do? Who should I choose?"

The soft breeze does nothing to make the decision easier. Crickets in the distance chirp, bugs buzz and zip through the air, and as gentle as the wind is, it still creates music between the leaves. The cold grass sticks to the bottom of her feet; she knows she'll have to bathe under warm water to unstick the chill from her skin. But, the lullaby of the night keeps her situated in her spot, staring up at the night sky with uncertainty.

"[Name]! Come inside," the voice of Itachi slices through the natural silence. "You'll catch a cold."

[Name] turns to look at him. He outstretches his hand towards her from the steps. "Come here."

She looks up at the star and then back to him. "Just give me one more moment. Please?"

Itachi's arm falls to the side, and silently he enters the house again. [Name] returns to the stars, looking for constellations she'd find in her youth. She knows that stars move over time, but these look the same from her younger years. At this moment, she feels safe and at ease. The answer to her question remains unanswered, but she's found peace, at least for now.

In due time, [Name] feels a warm blanket wrap around her shoulders, and a warm body presses to her back. Not knowing how long she's been out there, she doesn't realize how cold she's become. The blanket and body seem to melt away all chill she's acquired from standing in the night air.

"What are we looking at?" Itachi's smooth voice rings softly in her ears. She points to the stars.

"I'm just asking that star for a little help. It's something that my grandma would do."

Itachi navigates the starry night, his eyes catching more light than hers could ever see. He smiles at her endearing ways.

"Then I'll ask too. For your sake." Itachi clears his throat, hugging her closer to his body. "Stars above, please protect my [Name], and give her the wisdom she needs. Let her know she's not alone in this world and will always have me by her side. Always."

...

[Name] breathes heavily into the pillows. Why is it that whenever she feels lost and powerless, she falls into the arms of Itachi? Something about his words and his touch makes her slip into his embrace. The way he cares for her always has an ulterior motive. Whether she knows this for a fact or not, she still falls for it every time. She can't untangle herself from him.

The sweetest scents come from a venus fly trap.

A slight moan escapes her lips, and she covers her mouth to stop it. Itachi chuckles as he pumps his entire length into her. Slow and deep, he takes her from the side, lifting her leg for a better angle.

"Hush now," he whispers. His voice in pitch-black darkness makes her shiver. "You don't want him to hear you, do you?"

She shakes her head, stifling another moan as he purposely hits that sweet spot. She reaches back to grab his hips, wanting more of him.

She's so close to coming. And the more she does come, the deeper she falls into his abyss.

Itachi knows this.

Oh, he knows.

...

There's an air of confidence surrounding Itachi as morning comes, and Deidara hates it. He hates that cocky smirk and how he looks at [Name] as if he knows something Deidara doesn't.

It boils the little artist's blood. He knows Itachi is smitten with [Name]. It's evident in the way he touches her and talks to her. Even the way he sighs her name in such a relieved way. He wants to yell at Itachi and tell him that [Name] belongs to him.

But then, he remembers they're broken up.

So all he can do is stare pathetically as Itachi touches [Name's] side for the fifth time. His night with her is over.

He should've made a move, but instead, he passed out on the couch and dreamt of their life together instead. He wants to tell her that he still loves her. He wants to say to her that she means the world to him.

But with Itachi always in the way, he can't find the opportunity to do it. So, he packs his things.

"You don't wanna eat breakfast?" [Name] asks, setting the third plate down for him on the dining room table. "At least eat something before you leave."

It's her smile that captivates him. Her warm words that pull him in. It's his love for her that makes him say these stupid words.

"[Name], you are my muse."
