Sasuke bounds down the stairs, still hearing his name being called by Orochimaru. It's bone-chilling, and he thanks the heavens he escaped.
Now it's a race against time. He's headed for Karin's room to execute this escape. Without warning, he bursts through the pathetic excuse for a door. Karin shoots up from her bed, staring wide eyes at Sasuke before reaching down for her glasses.
"We have to go," he huffs.
"Wha---Sasuke what's going---"
"I got Orochimaru locked in my room, and I don't think it'll hold him for long. Someone's gonna notice that he's screaming, so we have to leave, we have to, we have to go!"
The panic in his voice alerts her more than the heaving of his chest and his frantic movements. He claws at the panel, showing the escape route.
"Okay, you go in first," Karin says, pulling out her own bag from beneath her bed. "I'll be right after you."
Sasuke pushes his backpack through the tunnel and crawls in. While he does that, Karin uses a small, decent barricade to block the door, just in case Orochimaru escapes earlier than expected.
She turns to the closet where she sees Sasuke's foot slips in and steadies her bag to her side.
"The door should be farther in," she explains in a hushed tone. "It's like a basement type door. The guards will switch in three minutes."
"Three minutes is a lot of time," Sasuke huffs.
In three minutes, someone can find Orochimaru in his room. In three minutes, Orochimaru could be let out. In three minutes, they'll both be caught. In three minutes, Orochimaru will force himself into Sasuke.
Sasuke shakes these thoughts from his brain. He finds double doors with a crack between them. He sees the night sky above and twinkling stars. It's the most beautiful thing he's seen in a while.
He hasn't been outside for so long. The days have been treacherous. The nights even worse. Fresh air. Fresh air and freedom. That's all he can think about.

Itachi has been quiet. And silence is something [Name] hates. She can hardly stand it. As she readies tea, she turns to Itachi and asks, "Hey bud, why are you so quiet?"
"I'm trying to remember my past," Itachi speaks. His voice changed from his usual cheery tone. It's lifeless.
"Remember it? Do you need some help?" [Name] asks. "I can ask you specific questions that might trigger something."
She hustles over to him with two tea cups and a bowl of sugar cubes on a tray. She sets it down on a coffee table, and sits next to him.
"Yes, thank you. Anything could help," Itachi says, turning to her with a smile.
[Name] leans back and hums, thinking up a question. "Let's see, you remember Sasuke, right?"
Itachi nods. "Yes. He's very close to me, I know that."
"I think I recall you were saying he's your brother," she starts, and turns her body towards him. "Do you have any other siblings?"
Itachi shakes his head. "No. Just Sasuke."
"How about that woman you saw, do you remember her?"
Itachi scrunches his face. Nothing comes up. Only errors.
"I don't know."
"A father? Was your father in your life?"
"No. He's." Itachi pauses. A face from deep in his subconscious pops up but for only a flash. He twitches. "He'll be dead soon."
[Name] blinks. "What?"
"My father will be dead soon. I remember now."
She notices the difference in pitch. His voice sounds deadly, and it sends a cold rush through her body.
"Oh, I'm sorry to hear that."
Itachi shrugs. "Ask me more questions. I feel like stuff is coming back."
"Okay, less about your family," [Name] speaks with caution now. "Do you have any significant others? Lovers?"
His fingers twitch. "A lover? Like a girlfriend?"
She shrugs, with a half smile. "Or a boyfriend. A partner."
Itachi closes his eyes and focuses. He scans his brain for any person who he loved in such an intimate way. And then finally, he accesses it. After overriding his own hardware, he gains entrance to those files.
A woman. How simple her beauty was. Those long brown locks, her round, black, doe eyes. She was beautiful. A gorgeous woman, for a gorgeous man.
Then she betrayed him. Then yelling. Then screaming. Then hitting. Then blood.
And then...
Itachi snaps open his eyes. His jaw clenches tight. All he sees is red and flashing warning signs.
"Itachi?"
He swivels his head towards her, tears in his eyes.
"You betrayed me," he hisses. The confusion only serves to slow [Name's] thought process down, and thus she's too slow to escape from Itachi's steel like grip. "Your damn whore! You betrayed me!"
Itachi rips her from the couch. The floor is hard when she's slammed into it. She doesn't know what happened, but she knows it's a bad, bad memory.
"Itachi, what are you---"
"Shut up! Shut the fuck up! Izumi, you bitch!" Itachi roars and grabs [Name] by the shirt. "I'll kill you! I'll fucking kill you!"
"Itachi! Please!" Fears runs through her veins, and she can only plead for him to stop. "It's a bad dream! A bad memory! I'm not Izumi!"
Itachi searches [Name's] eyes. The red he saw before clears. He sees [Name], terrified of him. The hold on her wavers as his hands begin to shake.
"No. No!" Itachi breaks down and pulls her close. His voice cracks the more he speaks. His words sound like gibberish the more he cries. "No, I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. No [Name], please don't hate me."
"I don't hate you. I don't, I promise, I don't," she says, trying to console him.
But she needs it more than he does, because like, what the fuck just happened.
