"Hello? Hello?! Is anyone out there?!"

[Name] hears the muffled voice of the person trapped inside the box. The box shakes as if the person is trying to get out. From the sound of it, the person is male.

"Please! It's cramped in here! I can't breathe!"

[Name] gulps, listening to the person begging. Bile creeps up her throat, and she can taste her breakfast on her tongue. Her body shakes, and tears prick at her eyes.

"Please, God is anyone there?!" He asks, the fear in his voice is evident. "I don't want to be left alone here! I don't want to die!"

She bites her lip, wondering if she should answer. With a shaky breath, she says, "I'm... I'm here!"

"Oh, thank goodness!" She hears him cry out. "Please get me out! Please!"

[Name] peels off the tape, and the man busts free. His hair is tousled, and his shirt is dirty. He heaves a sigh of relief as he places a hand over his heart.

"Oh my God," [Name] gasps, horrified. "Oh my GOD! Are you okay?!"

The man looks at her and instantly pulls her into a hug, nearly crushing her. His skin feels cold to the touch.

"Thank you! I don't even know how long I've been in there!"

"Should I call the police?! Are you okay?!"

The man nods, letting go of her. "I'm fine. There's no need to call the police."

[Name] turns to the door then back to the man sitting in the box. "Those- those men! I paid sixty-three bucks for you! I- They sold you!"

[Name] gapes, scanning his body for any robotic looking parts. Where're the wires? Where's his metallic exterior? Where're his robotic movements and blinking lights and buttons? This is no robot, this is a man!

He smiles, hanging his head down. "I'm just happy I'm alive."

There's a moment of silence. [Name] puts a finger underneath his chin and meets his eyes.

"What's your name?"

He blinks, a crooked sort of grin coming to his face. "Itachi, I think. There's a lot I don't remember though."

The man now known as Itachi hums. "But there's someone very important to me, I have to protect him, he could be hurt."

"What's his name? Maybe we can find him and get you back to him."

He leans into her touch, looking away from her eyes for a moment. Once again, she notices how cold his skin feels.

"Sasuke. He's my brother," Itachi answers, a frown settling on his face. "He's in trouble, I know it!"

A jolt of pain surges through Itachi's body. He holds his head, and he twitches, letting out a labored scream. A fleeting thought, one that ends in blood, passes through his mind.

He hums in pain, and [Name] takes his hand.

"Hey! Hey! Don't overwork yourself," she says. "You probably have some memory loss. How long have you been in that box?"

"Like I said, I don't know," Itachi grunts, clenching his eyes shut. He leans on her again, covertly pulling her into another hug.

A week. It's been so long since Itachi's seen another human, a warm body to hold on to and cuddle. It's been a whole two months since he's been with a woman. His father locked him into a box, wanting to destroy him. His mother did nothing but cry and watch.

These tidbits of information filters into his subconscious, waiting to be unlocked and unleashed into this world.

[Name], for all she can do, caresses the man. She takes through his tangled hair. Despite the knots, his hair is still surprisingly soft.

"I didn't seem to catch your name," Itachi comments, still embracing [Name].

"Oh, it's [Name]."

"I'm glad to have met you [Name]," he hums. "I'll never forget you."

...

A quiet dinner. A lost son. A dead son.

Problems hang heavy in the Uchiha household. It's a surprise that Mikoto is still bustling about. But something must keep her busy when there are no solutions in sight for this personal hell.

Mikoto scrubs the same dish for the third time. She soaks the dishes, washes them, dries them, and repeats those steps until the moon hangs high and the stars twinkle.

The day bleeds into the night and the night drips into the days. Mikoto can't remember how long it's been since she's seen her son. She's tried calling him, but his phone is dead. And for all she knows, he's dead too.

If Sasuke's dead too, she has nothing left to live for.

Mikoto lifts up a knife from the sink filled with water. It gleams under the dim yellow light of the kitchen.

If Sasuke dies, she'll die too.
