Chapter 7

Batman P.O.V.

While the others remained in Atlantis , Selina and I returned to the Batcave , for the purpose of locating the whereabouts of Superman's most loyal. On the way, I explained to her everything that had happened so far.

Selina: So son of the God of Thunder , we've had allies like this before, and they didn't always have friendly intentions. But I have to admit , what you've told me so far , he' s quite a character.

Batman: He's smart, and skilled. We need someone to bring hope back into our lives , without him we wouldn't be where we are now.

Selina: You're right , he's new so he's an unknown factor to Superman. A factor that can help us defeat him.

Batman: Yeah.

Selina: You can see that Kara looks up to him, and there may be more between them.

Batman: Well , he saved her in public from Superman , Wonder Woman , Black Adam , so I'm not surprised. That sent a message.

Selina: That makes me like him even more.

Eventually we finally arrived at the Batcave where I parked my Batmobile. We got out and looked at the Brother Eye. But before we could reach it Selina was hit by a fireball that knocked her back.

Batman: Selina!

I looked over and saw Firestrom and Blue Beetle wearing the same purple gear the others had on earlier. I put on a fighting stance.

Batman: I'll try to be gentler on you, but I can't promise it won't leave some scars.

Firestorm attacked me first when he sent several fireballs at me that I had to dodge. I fired my grappling hook at him which pulled me towards him where I kicked him in the face. Blue Beetle attacked right after him when I parried the blow he was aiming at me. That's when he exposed himself, which I took advantage of and landed a right hook to his head. I seized the moment , jumped over him and kicked him from behind. But then one of the fireballs aimed at me hit me, and I groaned. They both seized the moment and slowly walked towards me. Then we heard the sound of a motorbike. Selina came from the right side on my motorbike and crashed into both of them. She jumped off and landed next to me.

Selina: Are you okay ?

I stood up and nodded to her in agreement.

Batman : I'll take care of Firestorm and you take care of Blue Beetle, primarily go for those headgears.

Selina: Okay.

I ran at Firestorm and threw a batarang at him. He bounced it away which allowed me to slide under his feet and hold him down. I tried to take the device that was controlling him but he broke free from my grip with an explosion that threw me a few meters away from him. I stood up , avoiding another blast from him. I threw a smoke grenade at him which began to choke him. I took an advantage , rushed towards him , landed a right hook to his face , and a knee to his chest which knocked him to the ground , where I hit him again until he lost consciousness. I destroyed the headgear that was controlling him and looked back at Selina who was still fighting Blue Beetle.

Selina: Did you take care of yours ?

Batman: Yes, do you need help ?

Selina: No, I can handle it, you make sure Brother Eye finds what we came for.

I nodded and used the grappling hook to hoist myself up to the smaller platform where I walked over to the panels.

Batman: Brother Eye, initiate retinal scan.

Brother Eye: Identity confirmed, welcome Bruce Wayne.

Batman: Activate communication with Atlantis.

Brother Eye: Communication confirmed.

I heard a thud and saw Selina standing over the unconscious Blue Beetle.

Selina: I said I can handle it.

She walked over to me.

Batman: Let's go contact the others in Atlantis , they're probably waiting for it already.

I was about to confirm communication with Atlantis when Selina grabbed my arm.

Selina: Actually, can't we have some fun first ?

Batman: We have more important things to do right now.

Selina: But then when are we finally going to have time to ourselves?

I sighed.

Batman: Put Blue Beetle and Firestorm somewhere quiet and out of sight.

She smiled and walked away with her hips swaying.
