Chapter 2

This takes place right after (the last chapter)  her dreams

Moon opened her eyes and the images of her old frenemy were gone. She felt lighter like she could just evaporate to the top of her cave's ceiling. The only thing keeping her down was her clashing gold earring and her green leaf blanket.

She touched her earring and smiled. Today was going to be a good day.

The light shone through her cave's window giving hope that there would be good flying weather for today.

Something was off.

Something different than the light annoyingly shining into her face. It was quiet. It was never this quiet.

Moon got up feeling like she was about to float away.

 Then she remembered.

Quickly she ran out of her cave and checked the sundial. 10:18. She was late and everyone else had left without her. She hurried to the Feeding Cave and headed straight for the fruit.

She never ate wild game when she was in a hurry. She did one time and she got really sick halfway through flying. Through the mist of stress, anxiety and getting breakfast it was still quiet.

No thoughts echoing off the sides of her skull, but her own. Wait there was something else. A noise that no one could hear, but she could.

That faint humming sound she only heard when one of her friends was... Abruptly she lifted her head from her place at the Feeding Cave and her eyes darted everywhere until they landed on a pale beige dragon with brown freckles and the cutest gold earring.

"QIBLI!"

"Hey Moon. I hope I didn't startle you." Qibli the SandWing would never ever scare Moonwatcher the NightWing on purpose, but he couldn't help just resting in the doorway and watching Moon flail around frantically in a heap of worry for nothing.

"No no no I guessed it was you."

"Really how did you guess that?"

"Oh um I kind of sensed your hum. I guess. I really don't know. That sounds stupid--"

"It isn't stupid. I know what you mean."

"Wait so you have mind reading powers? Wow there goes us being open with each other about everything." Moon had put on a serious face and was looking out the window into the distance like everything she was told had been a lie.

"No wait what how did-what-there is no way that–" WHAT I literally said that I knew what she meant! It wasn't like I just said that I-I-was going to leave and never come back! Qibli's face was scrunched up like he had smelled a dead scavenger that had sat out for days. His mouth was twitching like he was trying to speak another language that he didn't even know.

"Calm down Qibli! I was only joking!" Moon was doubled over laughing as hard as she possibly could. If her face wasn't a deep purple it would be a bright red. Qibli's face softened and he started to chuckle,

"Okay okay you got me. You know how I tend to overthink everything right?"

"Sorry I know it isn't funny messing with you like that. It is just like I have been in your head right and seen your thoughts? So I do know how complex your mind is. Sorry again it is just you're making me want to laugh a lot."

Qibli looked at Moon. He could tell that she was sorry and he knew she was still getting used to not being able to read other dragons' minds.

He could imagine how much easier it would be to avoid issues with other dragons if the issues were completely avoided all together. He also imagined how difficult it would be to have that amazing ability stripped away.

"It is okay, Moon. Just remember that facial expressions can tell you a lot. You don't need thoughts to understand people. Bonus, you already know me well."

"Your amazing Qibli, remember that. I know that you don't think you are but you are 100% certified absolutely are genuine one of a kind. You don't get any better than you. Not even you don't, you just can't period. Don't argue with me. You know that I am right, like I said I have seen the inside of your mind. I don't know how to say this. It is like reading a million books at once then each one is better than the next."

"Aw you're gonna make me blush."

Qibli hid his feelings behind a joke (again).

He never fully understood why he does it, but saying how he feels straight to peoples faces made him feel like he was putting himself in a vulnerable state. Even if it is just how he feels about the weather.

Qibli focus, you're here to tell her about our winglet.

"Anyway um why were you in such a hurry?"

"I thought you guys left me and went to the museum opening without me."

"I would never."

"I know you wouldn't, but just in case."

"Oh okay well some dragons are here to see you."

"Really who?"

A/N: So here is another chapter. I had to add my favourite WOF character, Qibli. :) Quick thanks to all those who have read my sloppy work!  Also there is officially no schedule for when new parts of the story come out, it will be pretty much whenever I feel like there should be. Comment if you like it! Or don't, your choice. :)
