Not like a whole lot going on in this chapter I'm sorry, but fear not, drama shall arise soon enough

I laid on my bed on a Saturday and skimmed the lines that stood on the crisp, white paper. Skimming because concentrating on my book was hard, when I could feel whenever Jungkook, who laid beside me, shifted ever so slightly. Heck, he didn't even need to shift for me to lose all focus. Being around him was getting harder and harder day by day. It was the small things that almost brought me down on my knees. The way he would slightly grab my hip to gently scoot me away when I was in the way of the kitchen drawer. The way he would play with my hair, making me sigh in pleasure, and then the way he would gaze at me when I did so. The way his shirt would sometimes ride up and allow me a glimpse of the soft skin at the bottom of abs, leaving me wondering what trailed under. The way he would laugh, bunny smile on full display and nose scrunching delightfully, it made me want to tuck a daisy behind his ear. The way he would say my name like no one else did it, Y/n, with an airy sort of carelessness. Like he was made to say it.
The unexpected deep tug I felt in my stomach whenever he left and the cheering it made when he returned.
And finally, the way he turned me down every single time I tried anything.

I had once tried to run my finger over his bottom lip, just the way he had did when we sat on the bench, to catch a bit of chocolate. His head had ducked away with a dusty blush as soon as he realized what I tried to do. He even ended up leaving a little earlier than planned for. And I thought fine, it's okay to have boundaries, I won't do it again.
But not too many days after, he did the exact same to me. It was a double standard, and I just let it be that way. I didn't have it in me to push his hand away when he wiped away a droplet of coffee from my lips.

And then there was that time when he had gotten a text from no other than the man, the legend, the Kim Taehyung himself. Asking him to come and cook him food. Jungkook had texted back with a grumpy text stating that he wasn't in the house. Taehyung had replied with a fast 'oh, say hi to your girl from me then😏'
I had almost spurted out water when I saw it, that was if I had had any water in my mouth, no it was all dry. They knew about me. The others member knew about me, which did make a lot of sense considering how often Jungkook sneaked off to see me. Of course, they would have noticed.
Jungkook had been insanely quick to respond to Taehyung in an even grumpier text. 'she's not my girl, we're just friends, and no.' He had even added a period. He never did that. I guess he was really serious about us being friends... and nothing more.
When I asked if I could meet the members he had responded with a curt no. No discussion, no questions.

But even after his bland rejection, my thoughts still couldn't contain themselves. I had long dreams about him all through the night, ending in me waking up blurry minded and fumbling for my sanity in the moonlight. I let my fingers drift across my lips in a featherlight touch, longing for his lips to be instead of the tips of my fingers, just like he had done in my dreams. I snuggled into Cooky wishing it was Jungkook instead of an oversized plush toy.
I laid like a starfish sprawled across my sheets, close to crying, because what was I to do?
If I wanted him but he didn't want me?

How long had he been watching me? I thought and was brought back to reality as Jungkook placed a slender finger atop the spine of my book to gently push it down. I found his doe eyes already looking at me closely.
"I don't get why you like to read." He mumbled and propped his head up on his fist. His tattoos standing out in the most gorgeous way possible. "It's so boring." I brought the book up to my face again. "Well, I also don't have the attention span of goldfish. Unlike certain people." I muttered into the pages. Jungkook gasped. "I heard that!"
I peeked at him over the pages, seeing his fake hurt face. "I said what I said." I shrugged coolly. "Books are fun, you should try it."
He raised a perfect brow. "No, they're not. They're sleep juice."
"Do you read before you go to bed then?"
"No it's boring." He shrugged and I groaned. "Jungkook-ah, you've been reading the wrong books. It just needs a bit of spice and it's perfect. Not boring."
"How could words on paper ever be fun?" He said and shifted closer. Geez this man.
"
You write lyrics, don't you? That's words on paper too." I noted and crossed my arms. Jungkook looked at me as if I was the most stupid person on the entire earth. "Yeah, but that's writing, not reading." He drawled.
"Well if you're going to be that way, we'll never find out." I sighed and lifted my book again, trying to find my peace again, until Jungkook yanked my book away. I gave shriek from me when he came closer to hover above me.
