FINALLY, A CHAPTER!!
I feel the need to address that this story will not be covering Covid-19 as 2020 arrives. Everything will be portrayed as it was, but without the presence of the virus. As this is a fictional story and I, simply put, want to stay happy and instead keep the focus on Y/n and Jungkook's story.
Also this chapter is a bit on the shorter side, but I wrote a heck of a long one last time, so I hope that makes up for it. Love you all, please enjoy :)
I was finally back in school after my "extended vacation", which meant it was no longer 2019, but the year 2020. New beginnings. I had spent New Year's with Marina and her dad at her house, it was fun. We watched fireworks together for hours and even fired off a few of her dad's batteries. From her house we saw our faces of awe reflect in the windows, as purple and gold exploded across the night sky in a flurry of light. We also drank a bit too much champagne, but we don't talk about that incident, Marina made me promise not to. The night ended a bit blurry for her, so to say.
I walked through the big sliding doors of campus, shrugging my jacket off and hugging my sweater closer to my freezing body. Beneath the thick and soft fabric, I could feel my necklace dangle. It was slightly cold so whenever I moved, I was reminded of Jungkook. I couldn't help but smile to myself every time.
Winter was indeed very cold and even the air and light inside the building felt frosty. As if the light dancing through the big window panels somehow had an underlying blue sheen to it. I started walking towards my first class, the one I shared with Young-Soo and rubbed my red hands until warmth finally flowed in my veins once more.
It felt good to be back again, sitting next to Young-Soo and working together on tireless schoolwork. I liked it, the mundane calmness of it. No cameras to hide from or any facemasks to cover up who I was, a nice shift from my trip with Jungkook. When the professor finally deemed the class finished, Young-Soo and I set off for our daily tabletop tennis game with Marina. But as we were walking down the hall, Young-Soo shoved a camera up in my face. I laughed. "What's that for?" Young-Soo lowered the camera.
"It's a project, for filming class. I'm supposed to vlog my day, and you're a part of that so say hi to the camera." I smiled when I looked straight into the lens of the old-style video camera, identical to the one my parents used for home videos of me as a baby. We would watch the videos every year on my birthday and laugh at baby me jumping and bouncing on my bed instead of sleeping. Of course, we didn't do that on my last birthday, because I was here, and they were back home."Hi, Young-Soo's vlog," I said and gave a little wave, completely unsure of what to say. I glanced nervously up at Young-Soo. "Just introduce yourself,"
"Uh, I'm Y/n... Young-Soo's best friend, the best one he has!" I laughed at the weirdness of it and Young-Soo jokingly pushed my shoulder at my words. He then began speaking again, this time to the camera, listing off everything he had done today, even going as for to say which breakfast he had eaten and everything he was planning on doing.
"And then I'm going to go pick up a package I got from this really sketchy website so I'm not sure if it'll be a success or a scam to be honest-" Young-Soo kept blabbing, but I trailed off. My eyes focused on something else down by the reception. By the big, blue bulletin board stood Dae-Hyun and girl. I couldn't make out who it was from here, but that honestly didn't matter to me. Because on the board hung a poster and in big and bulky letters was the word AUDITION plastered on. I completely disassociated from Young-Soo's words and gave him a little, distant pad on the shoulder with a mumbled "I gotta go, I'll see you later." as I skipped down the stairs towards the bulletin board.I stared at the fat words. It was an open casting call for a movie, this weekend. It was everything I needed. The world was with me, it seemed. I had decided that 2020 would be the year for the start of my career. It would maybe take many auditions, hundreds perhaps, before I got my first role. But this was a start. I smiled faintly at the words.
"Y/n?" Someone asked from my left. I blinked back to reality and turned around to find Dae-Hyun standing next to me. Oh, yeah right. He was here. I had totally forgotten about him; my only focus was the audition. "Oh, hi Dae," I said and gave him an easy-going smile. We hadn't interacted a lot since our "date" and to be fair it had been a bit awkward after my rejection of taking things further.
