Clank.
Clank.
Clank.
Lyra and I were silent as we descend the old hidden staircase for what feels like forever. The air is stale, and it smells like nobody's been down here for ages. Man... we should've opened a window before coming down here, now the house will smell like a thirty-year-old staircase.
The two of us were silent, the only sound coming from the our shoes tapping the old stone, and the squeak the lantern's handle makes with every move.
I peer at the stone walls that were decorated in beautiful hieroglyphics. They were quite easy to depicted, maybe it's good this place hasn't been opened in what feels like a hundred years!
They were clearly about The War of The Enderwatchers. Glyphs of the former King Emery, and Lance purging the old End Capital with his armies of traitors, stealing crystals, the two being the dictators of the End City... such dark times.
"Finally. Solid ground." Lyra exclaims, jumping to the solid stone floor. I lean over to pick up the wood spoon the former spy dropped down, and pocket it in my cloak.
"Well... that'll be fun to walk back up." I grimace, looking back up. I couldn't even see the house above.
"Hey!" Lyra said, trying to get my attention. I turn to her to see her lighting two torches in the lantern. "Here you go m'lady." She hands me a torch, keeping one for herself.
"Tha—" Before I could finish, I hear something walking up to us. I direct my torch to the noise. "Who goes there!" I shout, drawing my swordspear. Lyra follows, drawing her sword.
The footsteps don't stop, and slowly, we see a woman emerge from the shadows. She had pale skin, long violet hair which had been tied back into a long braid that nearly went down to their knees. She wore a black witches cap that covers their eyes, and a long black dress, black boots, a brown cloak, and a glowing emerald necklace. Funny... their hat is similar to my old one.
The woman creates a lantern in their hand, and use her fingertip to light it. "How curious. I though only Ceris knew the passageway down here. Who are you dear children?" The woman's voice was echoey (alike to Ceris'), yet had hints of an accent similar to mine.
Lyra and I look at her than each other. She definitely doesn't seem threatening... but, how is she end up all the way down here? This chamber looks to have been shut in for a while. I thought, fidgeting with my staff.
The woman's warm smile fades, and she tilts her hat up to get a better look at us. Her eyes... one was ender, the other was hidden by a tuff of her lavender hair. She seems to have her eyes fixated on my staff.
"What... are you?" Lyra asks rather bluntly, moving in front of me. The woman turns her attention to my ally and laughs, seemingly not offended by her sudden comment.
"Dear child, as you can see, I am an Enderkin just like the both of you." The woman answers with an innocent smile.
"How... did you get down here?" I ask, peaking out from behind Lyra.
She looks over at me and smiles. "I'm not sure." She turns towards where she came. "Walk with me dears. Maybe we'll both find what we're looking for on the way!" The woman beams.
"How did you know we were looking for something." My ally asks suspiciously, holding her hand up.
The woman hesitates, but approaches me. Lyra tenses up, and looked about ready to punch her, but I grasp her shoulder. The woman stood in front of me, before tracing the symbols on my spear.
