"Fortunately..." The End Mage finally said after hearing our story. "I do have some of the crystals myself. Only three however." He said, pointing towards three obsidian towers holding a crystal on each.
All the crystals were heavily guarded, and put in cages for protection. A pit slightly grew in my stomach as I turn back at him.
"But... unfortunately, I cannot give them up. Not even one. I understand the situation, believe me. I want to help in any way I can; however, we already only have three. We would be left without protection over here—"
"Don't worry." I speak up. "I think I can speak for the both of us when I say that we understand. The End is technically leaderless after all. Without their ruler and hardly any of their army left, the people's safety should come first."
Lyra nods. "The End is my home as much as it is both of yours. I want it and it's people to be protected. However, do you happen to know where Ceris hid them?" She asked.
Lance unfortunately shook his head. "If I did, the End would have more than three crystals lighting up it's villages." He said sadly. "These three I had those assassins swipe them from that damned Piglin King. I offered to pay them in turn —and I did one of them— but the other said that killing that king was enough for her and left."
"Did she give any hints? A certain dimension perhaps?" Lyra asked.
He shook his head. "No, however I doubt she gave them to the Nether, and I've checked every corner of this island myself. So that leaves one world."
"The Overworld." The three of us said simultaneously.
"Exactly. Knowing her, she probably stashed them somewhere hidden by magic. A place only you two would know. They may either be separated or all together, who knows. But she's not the type to stash something so important somewhere she doesn't know." Lance predicted.
I sigh heavily. "Great, a wild goose chase."
"And a chance against 303 at the same time mind you." Lyra added on.
"Then you should rest tonight, and start fresh in the morning. I can fix you three up a room if needed?" He suggested. I shook my head.
"I appreciate the offer; however, there is no need. I can conjure up a portal to take us home back." I say.
Lyra cleared her throat. "Looks like we have to head home quite soon." She said, pointing back to Leon. He was playing on the floor with a few stuffed toys that used to belong to me when I came to visit. I'm surprised some of them were still here. I nod back at her and stand up, bowing my head slightly.
"Thank you for seeing us. We will be heading out of that is alright." I thank. He got up out of his seat.
"Wait. Lady Stella, I wish to speak with you. Lyra, if you would leave us for a moment?" He asked. I nod confused and took my seat again.
"Of course." She said before picking up Leon and walking out of the room. Lance sat back down in the chair in front of me and sighed.
"Stella... as you may remember, after you, Rain, those assassins, and I took back the End and reestablished the Matriarchy, we made a pact. I promised to be a temporary protector over the End while you two fought alongside your friends of the Frostbourne as long as you promised to come back after there were no more threats towards humanity. You recall this deal right?" He asked, and to which I gave a small nod.
"Yeah, I remember? What of it?" I ask.
He sighed and slumped back in his chair. "The End is getting harder to maintain every day, and now that the people know their future queen is alive and well, they want to know when she'll be put back into power..."
