Lizzie

Hospital Chapter 1

One day, at a very successful hospital, best in the country, Dr. McGray and Dr. Shane were handling paperwork when they got a patient. Her name was Lizzie Holly and she had come in with her parents.

The doctors walked in and Dr. Shane said, "Hello. I am Dr.Shane and this is Dr. Mc. McGray. What seems to be wrong with your daughter?" The parents turned around and said, "We've been to three different hospitals and they all call her crazy. They say Lizzie is schizophrenic."

The doctors looked at each other and pulled the parents aside. Dr. Shane said, "I'm sorry, but there is nothing we can do. We really do think that she is schizophrenic." The mother started crying. The father looked at the doctors and asked, "So what? Are you guys going to help?"

As Dr. McGray was going to say something, Lizzie grabbed a scalpel and shouted, "I swear to god I'll do it!" Dr.James walked in and said to Lizzie, "I know you don't want to do that-" Lizzie cut him off, "IF I STAB THIS IN MY HEART, IT WILL KILL ME RIGHT?! RIGHT?!" The doctors were trying to calm Lizzie down. Dr. James said, "Lizzie, I'm going to need you to put the scalpel down, okay? I know you don't want to hurt yourself, so please put it down."

Lizzie said with a very serious look on her face, "They think I'm crazy, they all say I'm crazy. I know I'm not crazy." Dr. James moved closer to Lizzie to grab the scalpel while saying, "Look Lizzie, I know you're not crazy. I'm here to prove them wrong, so I going to need you to drop the scalpel in my hand, okay Lizzie? Just drop it."

"You're going to prove that I'm not crazy. Please, I want to be the me I use to be, before all of this happened to me. I'm begging you, please" Lizzie said quietly. Dr. James nodded his head and said, "I will do everything I can to help you, now can you please drop the scalpel in my hand? Please?" Lizzie slowly put the blade in his hand. The nurses that walked in soon after gently laid Lizzie on a bed and quickly strapped her down so that she could not hurt herself.

Lizzie kept repeating "I'm not crazy. I'm not crazy." Dr. James looked at her parents and said, "Tell me everything that happen to her. How did she end up like this?" Dr. McGray, Dr.Shane, and Dr.James walked Lizzie's parents to a private room so that they could tell the doctors how Lizzie got this way and how they could treat it. Dr. McGray asked Lizzie's mother, " Mrs. Holly, when did this start with Lizzie?"

Lizzie's mother looked at Dr. McGray and responded, "Please, call me Connie. And I don't how she got like this. It started up last year when she was 10. She would keep saying there was something in her arm, but every time we looked at her arm, there was nothing there. We just thought she had a very active imagination, she was 10 after all, so it made sense to assume she was trying to play or something." Dr. Shane asked Lizzie's father, "What else happened Mr.- I mean Frank?" Frank shrugged. "It got worse it came to the point when she started scratch at her wrist so much it started to bleed, so we thought that she was cutting herself, but she told us that she would never hurt herself like that." Dr.James said, "So how did you end up here?" Frank responded, "Well because, this morning we had to get her ready to see a therapist and we found her on the bathroom floor and we tried to wake her up, but she wouldn't..." His wife filled in his gap by continuing with, "But she wouldn't, so we called 911 and we were in the ambulance when she woke up and started to freak out. She wouldn't stop flailing around and we were trying to calm her down as best we could."

They all stood and shook hands. Dr. James said, "We will do everything we can to help your daughter." Connie started to cry whimpered out, "Thank you." Connie and Frank walked back to where Lizzie was resting. Dr. Shane and Dr. McGray looked at Dr. James. Dr. McGray. said, "What do you suggest we do?" James said. "What do you mean 'what do we do?' " Shane shook his head and said, "You gave them false hope about their daughter not being "crazy". " James shook his head and said, "I believe that I can help her and that she is not crazy " McGray was shocked and said " She just threatened to stab herself with a scalpel, I call that crazy in my book" James said "Watch I'll prove that she is not crazy and I'll go down in history" then walked away to go do some research and find away to help Lizzy and try to understand what's going on in her head. Why does she think that there is something in her arm and that's it's moving.
