Chapter 15

Mary looked at Lizzy then back at Shane and said " What do you mean? A-are you saying she was lying?"

Shane shrugged and said " I don't know but she did lie to her parents about cutting"

Mary, Kelly, and Haley's eyes widen, May said " So, you're telling me that this sweet, innocent, talented, little girl that has been through hell is cutting herself? How long?"

Shane looked at Lizzy, who is still sleeping, he said " She said since she was eight years old, she needs help, she has no one when she gets out of here, no one to take care of her."

Mary nodded " So what are you thinking?"

Shane looked at Mary put his hand on her hand.

She giggled and said " You want to adopt her don't?"

He nodded and said " I can have the papers by tomorrow"

She nodded and said " YES! Let's do it, let's adopt her!"

" Okay, so I have to do my rounds then I'll swing by and pick up Gaby and you'll wait here till she wakes up?"

Mary nodded, Shane kissed her head and walked out the room.

Mary sighed then looked at Lizzy then stroke her hair and whispered in her ear " Lizzy maybe you can't hear me but I want you to know that you are beautiful, strong, talented, wonderfully made, and my daughter, we are going to adopt you. Like I said you are going to be apart of family that will love you just the way you are."

Then she kissed her head, sat in the chair and looked at her, before she knew it she fell asleep.

Lizzy woke up with the sun blaring through the window and the sight of Mary holding her hand.

Lizzy smiles and is feeling loved by someone she barely knows and that has been on her side every step of the way with both of her surgeries and dealing with her parents.

Lizzy thought of Mary as a mom because she never felt like she had one but Mary came along and changed everything.

Then Shane walked in with Gaby drink her bottle, Shane looked at Mary and smiled " How long has been asleep?"

Lizzy shrugged and said " I really don't know, she was asleep when I woke up. So I didn't bother her, she looks so peaceful."
