We stared at the coffin, waiting for it to open up. I tightened my grip on my handles. "Oh no!" Pidge said worriedly. "Please tell me there's not a giant monster in there. Please tell me it's empty! Or full of space candy. One of those two. Either one is fine." "I don't think it's a piñata Hunk." I was confused on that word, what was a piñata? "If it's the same kind of monster that attacked us on Arus, we already know how to beat it."

Keith said but I knew better. "I don't think it's the same monster. Zarkon is far to cunning for that." Keith ignored me and activated the sword, Pidge activated the shield and protected us. "Hold your ground." The coffin opened to reveal a lizard like monster with holes on its arms and green eyes. "It's not candy!" "And it's not the same monster."

It aimed its chest lasers at us and I pulled us away from its aim. "We need to draw its fire away from the Balmera's surface!" I heard Shiro say as I fly us up. It aimed at the shield but the pressure got to us, making us groan in pain. "We can't hold out!" I hear Lance panic out. "My Lion's weakening! If the shield sustains structural damage, we're done for!" "Yes, I can already feel it weakening."

"The girls are right!" I heard Keith say. "Oh the girls are right. I'm the one that said, "We can't hold out!"" "Lance, watch your footing!" Keith said to Lance as we suddenly trip and fall over breaking the shield.

We all groan in pain at the sudden impact. "Okay, Team Voltron, disband!" Shiro said and we all disbanded. "Everyone, evasive maneuvers! It can't shoot us all at once!" Shiro said and we start flying in different directions. The monster raised its arms up and started shooting at us. "Okay, it can do that too." We kept dodging the lasers.

"Keith, try to draw its fire! I'm coming in from above!" "Roger!" Keith used the red lions heat ray to  attention while Shiro sneaks in from behind, prepared to fire the mouth cannon but The beast is able to rotate an eye cannon around and blast the Black Lion. Shiro pulls away at the last second to avoid being hit.

"We need to find its blind spot!" Lance said panicked. "I don't think this thing has a blind spot. It has a thousand eyes." "I agree, a beast with so many eyes won't have any blind spots." I said agreeing with Pidge. "Laser eyes! Laser eyes!" Hunk says avoiding the laser aimed at him.

"What do we do? Fighting this thing is like fighting an entire fleet at once!" Pidge said sounding very panicked and I couldn't help but nod. "I think we've got to aim for those laser eyes and take them out." Keith said and I said. "Good idea but how?" "We'll cover you from up here!" Allura said as the castle of lion fired its laser at the beast.

But it retaliates and makes a bigger laser aiming it at the castles particle barrier. "We're taking heavy fire up here! We're in trouble!" I heard Allura say and then I heard. "Princess, pull back! Get out of its range, now!" Shiro said. "We will not abandon you!" "You're not abandoning us. We're about to pull back anyway." "We are?" Hunk asks worriedly as Shiro says. "We can't hold out. We have to. Lions, to the mine shafts! It's the only place the monster can't get us." "Roger that!" Pidge says as I hear Allura sigh. "Heading into orbit!"

I landed my lion in one of the shafts with Shiro, Hunk and Keith. We went to Shays family and Rax asked. "What is happening?" "There's a monster up there that Zarkon sent to destroy us." Keith said making them gasp in horror. "A monster? Will Zarkon's savagery never abate? Perhaps our people were never meant to be free." Shay said looking broken hearted.
