One of the worst punishment to receive from a loved one after messing up and disappointing them, is no punishment. It makes you even guiltier.

But would you rather a silent treatment to an actual argument about the problem, where harsh words could be traded? Where trust and relationships could be broken? Most would settle for the silent treatment so they don't discuss it, and don't risk losing anything.

So how long is too long to go without talking?

So now Xander was a liar. Except, he didn't lie. No one asked, are you with the others?

But it felt the same.

He couldn't say he hated it, though. He told Ambrose and Axel that Ambrose could teach him more than Xander could, but he was still very much open to being fucked by them both. He slipped in bed with the other three, sometimes to just sleep close, sometimes to have sex.

He loved the sex, the kisses, all the looks he traded with each of them, each loaded with different secrets. It was more than he imagined, and he was so, so grateful.

This, he had assumed, was as close as he would get to being with them all. And if it wasn't hurting anyone, was it really all that bad?

He soaked it in. He had all the more reason now to fall asleep with his head on Dusk's chest, or with Aspen wrapped around him, or with his fingers linked with Parsley's. He liked being in on these secrets, trading glances over meals, and sneaking around for kisses.

He knew it would catch up on him soon, and everyone would be mad, but he didn't want to worry about that yet. He wanted at least to have some time with them all, touching and kissing and cuddling before it all went to shit.

He figured he'd have some time. They weren't suspicious of each other.

But then, one day, he went to Aspen's job.

And that was a mistake.

----------

Aspen worked at a bar, where Xander's friend Quinn was at a lot. The day he went there, to go see a movie with Aspen as an official date when he clocked off, Quinn was there.

There was still some time before Aspen got off work, so Xander sat in a booth with Quinn.

He was a tall, handsome man with thick hair and a too-tempting smile, and Xander had been totally infatuated with him at one point. All he had to do was flash that smile, and Xander was putty under him.

So, of course, he encouraged a few drinks. "On me," He said, pushing a glass towards Xander. "Tell me how you've been."

Callas and Dusk both told him Quinn was a very bad influence. He knew it was the truth, but still took the drink, and held a conversation with the man.
