"I am actually terrible at cooking." Mizuki admited. "Like, I can cook, but no one except me ever really likes my cooking."
"Really? I'm sure it can't be that bad." Ami reassured. "What can you cook?"
"Turtles and lizards." Mizuki says straightforwardly. "And if sake counts, then sake too."
They both enter the kitchen of the sake shop. Ami's expression changes slightly. She then asks, "Can you cook anything else?" as she looks around the kitchen.
"Hmm, not really. Sake is my speciality though. It's the only thing that I make that everyone loves when they try."
"Ok," Ami nodds. "I'll teach you to cook then."
"Seriously?" Mizuki tries to hide his excitement.
"Sure," She gets a pan and a bowl. "I can make quite a lot of things. From rice, to boiling and frying vegetables, to sweets."
"Wow! There's some stuff in the fridge you can use. I'd love you to teach me." Mizuki smiles.
Ami heads to the fridge and gets out some vegetables. Tomatoes. Potatoes. Green beans.
She washes them and places them on a chopping bourd. Mizuki watches closely as she chops them with a knife into small pieces. Then, she places them into the bowl.
After that, Ami gets the pan and puts a little amount of oil in it. She places it onto the gas and waits for it to heat up.
"Now." Ami instructs. "We have to grate some ginger and add that in. Then, you add the potatoes. Then the green beans. Then the tomatoes. Do you know why?"
Mizuki shakes his head.
Ami then answers her own question. "The ginger needs some time to mix with the oil. After that, you have to add the harder vegetables to give them more time to cook. The softer vegetables of cource need less time to cook." She smiles.
"Oh, I understand now." Mizuki says.
"Good."
The two then keep going until all the vegetables are in. "What do we add now?" Ami quizzes Mizuki.
"Spices?" Mizuki thinks.
"Correct!" She claps her hands and they both high five.
After the cooking is finished, Mizuki gets some rice from the fridge. They take the vegetables and rice and head out of the kitchen. Then, they sit on one of the tables and start serving each other.
"Thank you for the food." They both say before they begin eating.
"Wow, she can cook. And a lot better than me too. I should ask her if she has a job or if she wants to work here. It would be great if my shop sold both food and Sake." Mizuki pondered as they ate.
"I don't know if I already mentioned this or not, but I'm so glad to have met you again today. You are so sweet and I'm happy to be here with you." Ami soon began speaking.
Mizuki was left speechless at the sudden praise. He began stuttering and blushing. "O-Oh, thank you. I-I also agree."
Ami giggled gently and it gave Mizuki butterflies. He looked down at the table. It took him a moment, but he soon gathered three of courage to speak up again. "Hey, Ami chan."
"Yeah?"
"I was wondering, you're old enough to work, right?"
Ami nodded.
Mizuki continued, reminding himself to breath because she was so adorable. "If you wanted, you could work here with me, like as a part ime job or something. If you're interested, of course."
Ami's expression brightened. "I'd love to. I'm currently in university, so I will be quite busy. But in my spare time, I'll gladly help."
Mizuki felt so happy that he almost flew with happiness. His smile was cheerful and big as he said, "I'll be looking forward to work with you, dear Ami."
The two laughed. Mizuki remembered the sake, and brought some to their table. He served some for Ami. Then a bit for himself.
"Cheers!" And they drank.
"It's nice." Ami said. "Could I have a bit more?"
"Sure, I'll take care of you. So, don't worry." Mizuki said with his snake-like voice.
