Once they had gotten quite close to the front door of the shrine, they noticed Nanami and Tomoe. They were sitting side by side on the grass near some flowers.
They were drinking tea leisurely while admiring the beauty of the shrine's garden. On their face, there were genuine and content smiles.
"Sooo romantic!" Mizuki teased as he and Ami approached them.
Nanami and Tomoe turned their gaze to them. Nanami's face lit up with excitement. She sprung up to hug Ami and Mizuki.
"Hey!" She called out in their ears.
Tomoe remained seated on the grass. He gave them a judging look as he tried to work out why they were here.
Ami spoke up. "I've made up my mind. I'll be the water goddess of the Yonomori shrine."
Nanami twirled around and clapped her hands. Tomoe rolled his eyes carefully, so that Nanami wouldn't notice.
Mizuki noticed though. "What's up Tomoe?" He asked.
"Have you sealed the contract yet?"
Mizuki and Ami blushed slightly and looked away from each other. "No." They stuttered in a nervous tone.
"Oh, I get it. You guys came here to do it right?"
"Yeah." They laughed nervously.
"Well, go ahead then. Kiss." Tomoe said straightforwardly.
"Wait!" Nanami exclaimed. "Let me go and get Onikiri and Kotestu. Mamaru should be with them too." She hurried indoors to get them.
"It would be nice if we all went your shrine, snake." Tomoe suggested.
"It's funny you're saying that, after Nanami was the one who stopped you from burning down the shrine and Lady Yonomori's favourite tree." Mizuki replied bitterly.
"You know why I was doing it though." Tomoe lowered his voice. "First, you had kidnapped my mistress. Second, you had actually dared to hurt her. I know for a fact that you would respond similarly if I had done that to you dear, Lady Yonomori."
"Yeah, definitely. I'd die to protect her."
"Not good enough." Tomoe chastised. "You should live to protect. What good will you dying do? Well, I'm sure I'd benefit from it."
"Whatever." Mizuki sighed, as Nanami began approaching with the 3 she had gone to bring.
Tomoe whistled for a moment, then said, "You've got an audience that you ought to entertain." as he pushed Mizuki towards the zoned out Ami.
"Oops, sorry." Tomoe appologised sarcastically."Stupid Moron" Mizuki thought as he crashed into Ami. "I'm so sorry." He stuttered.
Ami took a deep breath, then looked her new lover deep into his eyes. "Are you ready?" She asked.
Mizuki was so flustered at her calm expression he just nodded and swallowed.
Ami went on her tiptoes. She slowly put her hands on Mizuki's face, and gently brought it down so tat she could kiss him.
"Ohhhh," Everyone cheered as Ami dominantly kissed Mizuki. She did it slow, yet somehow dramatically as well.
When they both stopped, they were breathing quickly. They shared intense eye contact for a few moments before looking away.
"That was 100 times more romantic than our first kiss!" Nanami praised them. "I basically kissed him just to save my own life."
"And then you gradually, slowly but surely fell in love with me." Tomoe teased her.
"You fell in live with me too." Nanami fought back.
They laughed and Mizuki stepped close to Ami again. "That was an impressive kiss. I'm assuming that was both of our first kisses?"
"Thanks Mizuki. Yeah, that was my first."
"Let's all go inside and chat while we have dinner!" Nanami suggested. "After that, we can all spend time together before going to sleep. Tommorow will be a fun day at the Yonomori shrine!"
"Will you two sleep together tonight?" Tomoe asked in a suspicious way.
"No. We're not ready for that yet. Maybe another time." Mizuki answered.
"Ami will sleep with me tonight." Nanami said.
"We are definetely sleeping in separate rooms." Tomoe and Mizuki said at the same time, crossing their arms and glaring at each other.
"Ok." Nanami and Ami replied, rolling their eyes and laughing at their childishness."
This is only the beginning of a life-long romance between a human girl and a snake spirit. There will definetely be many adventures the two will go through together. However, I as the author don't want to invade their privacy by sharing their entire life story.
I'll end it here for now. If you want a part 2, please let me know.
Hope you enjoyed the short story.
