Tomoe gave Mizuki a dirty look before speaking. "I wanted to say this while Lady Nanami isn't around."
Mizuki, with a look of failing patience, gritted his teeth and exhaled, "Go on, then: insult me for my choice of a mistress."
"That's not what I want right now. Maybe I'll save that for another time. Well, I want to speak more like we're allies. Not friends. Not enemies. But allies." Tomoe clarified before beginning. "After all, you helped me realise my feelings for Nanami. Even if it is forbidden love, it is still love. That's all that matters in my opinion."
Rolling his eyes and crossing his arms, Mizuki mumbled, "Yeah, but get to the point already. I have a business to attend to."
Tomoe continued. "Knowing Lady Nanami's nature, she is most likely already explaining the situation to Ami. As we speak, she is probably telling Ami all about how she became a land goddess."
Mizuki pondered that. It had to be true. Nanami was the kind of person to get extremely excited about things. She would also struggle to keep quiet sometimes and keep secrets.
"Doesn't that make it easier on our part?" Mizuki asked. "That means that there's less explaining for us to do."
"You could say that." Tomoe mentioned, looking around. "How well do you know this human girl? What's her true personality like? Will she believe Nanami? Will she still be able to look at you the same? Or will she run away out of fear? You are a snake after all." He overwhelmed Mizuki with these questions.
Mizuki felt his heart skip a few beats. His heart felt light and delicate in his chest, almost like a fragile glass held loosely in someone's hand above the ground.
Mizuki was a boy who fell hard and mad in love too easily. He also becomes obsessed and attached to the one he loves. His love is toxic and sweetly suffocating.
The thought of Ami leaving him seemed impossible. Despite him knowing that it was possible, he couldn't accept it. He would rather die than accept it.
"No." Mizuki admitted, stubbornly. "Ami is the best, and she will be my mistress. I know only this."
Tomoe laughed at Mizuki's words. He had been expecting this sort of reply. "Snake, I would advise you not to fall in love. You will hurt her and yourself. You either keep your feelings to yourself, or change how you deal with them."
Mizuki bit his tongue and looked away from Tomoe's mocking eyes. He didn't have a smart reply. "Fine. I'm going now if that's fine with you." His voice was cold and he felt his whole body shaking.
Tomoe turned around and began pulling weeds out of the ground. "I'm not stopping you. I'd actually appreciate it if you left now, you uneducated snake."
Angrily, Mizuki stormed away, cursing Tomoe in his mind. His heart was a loud, chaotic drum beat.
There was a lot on his mind. There was anger because of Tomoe. There was excitement because of Ami. There was peace because of his business.
Suddenly, he remembered all the decorations he had to make for his shop. This caused him to speed up. Today was going to be a long day, and it was still only the morning.
