Chapter 14

Mars POV

I look between Matt and Alex, the yelling was getting to my head and I felt bad for both Matt and Alex. Alex storms off.
"Matt, what the hell was that for?!" I ask sternly, Woods tries to stop me but he can't.
"Why are you mad at me? Alex was the one who made the stupid decision!" Matt replies, sounding angrier than he intended.
"Why'd you have to fight about it though? Remember what happened last time you did this?" I stated, starting to raise my voice defensively.
"Oh so now I'm the bad guy?" Matt yells back. I look at him in shock and anger.
"Oh so you're the victim now? Not Alex, who sacrificed himself to save me? He didn't take the antidote you know. So you can STOP PLAYING THE VICTIM," I start to yell at Matt, I feel terrible but I can't let him feel like he is worse off than us.
"Do you not remember who was mind controlled for SEVEN MONTHS?" Matt yells, getting closer to me.
"Do you not remember your friends and employees almost DYING just a couple hours ago?" I yell back. Before Matt could say anything else, Woods got between the two of us.
"Guys just STOP," he said sternly, "arguing won't solve anything. Sure, Alex giving the phantom serum was a mistake, but he did it to protect us, Matt, you would've done the exact same thing in that situation," Woods explains, trying to calm us down.
"Oh, so you're on their side now?" Matt says cooly.
"I'm not on a side, I'm trying to get the team to actually be a team!" Woods responded.
"Matt, you can't always be the leader, you and Alex are two sides of the same coin, so maybe trust us a little bit," I said, looking back at him. He looks at Woods and I and his face darkens.
"Fine, you two can fix this if you side with Alex so much," Matt says jaggedly. My heart drops, he can't be doing this, but he is. I go to speak up and argue when he storms past me and walks to Blue Base, probably to talk to Sam and Sky. I shake my head and look at Woods. This won't be what breaks me, I'm not gonna let this be my folding point, I won't let Matt think he hurt me. But maybe if I let him think that, I could use it to my... our advantage. I hug Woods and walk to the back of Red Base to try and find Alex, Woods doesn't follow, instead he runs after Matt. I sit down on the couch across from Alex and look at him.
"He didn't mean what he said, when you get angry you say stuff you don't mean, try not to think about it, you did the right thing," I tell Alex, smiling at him, he smiles back and says
"Matt and I really are two sides of the same coin aren't we?"
"Yes, yes you are," I say and chuckle.

Matt's POV

I storm into Blue Base, feeling bad about what happened in the courtyard.
"What happened?" Sky asks.
"Nothing, we just had an argument," I replied.
"About what?" Sam asks.
"Alex came in here earlier, and gave serum to the Phantom." I replied.
"What?! Why would he do that?!" Sky asked.
"He claimed that the Phantom would've torn us apart," I say.
"Well, that makes sense." Sky replied, and looked at Sam, who nodded in agreement.
"So you two are on his side too?!" I ask, getting angry once more.
"He did it to protect us, right? He made the right call." Sam said.
I was about to reply to Sam when Woods opened the door behind me. "What do you want, Woods?" I ask.
"Listen, I wasn't picking sides back there, but both of you couldn't be arguing like that." Woods disclosed.
"Sure," I replied, not believing him.
"Again, Alex said he was protecting us, right? If he was, his actions were justified, don't you think?" Woods questioned.
"Yeah, but-" I admit, when Woods interrupts.
"Then why'd you argue with him?" Woods asked.
"I don't know." I replied.
Alex comes into Blue Base, with Mars following him.
"Hey Matt, I just wanted to say, sorry for back there." Alex expressed.
"I'm sorry for arguing. You were justified for giving him the serum." I replied.
"Well then, I'm tired, let's look into the emulator tomorrow?" Alex asks.
"Yeah." I replied.
