I slammed my hotel room door open, causing Gene, who was watching TV, to flinch. He grumbled before turning off the TV and tossing the remote aside.

"Honey, I'm home!" I exclaimed.

"Honey, I want a divorce!" he retorted.

I locked the door, kicked off my shoes and fell back onto Gene's bed, causing him to withdraw his stretched out legs. "You'll never guess who I ran into."

"Irene herself," he said.

"...No. I'm not even sure how she's canonly viewed in this universe. Was she ever alive or is that... Uh, never mind. I'll give you a hint! It's someone who you're super obsessed with!"

Gene shook his head. "Y/n, I've been here all day, you didn't run into me. Must've been someone that looked like me."

"Okay narcissist, I'll give you one more guess."

"You...ran into a mirror! You ran into yourself."

"Cute, but no cigar. It was—"

"Your brother!"

My jaw dropped. "That's right, actually...at least you're aware."

"I'm not obsessed with B/n. It's just funny getting on his nerves! So, how'd it go, did someone's boyfriend get brought up at all?"

"It actually went well! He and I made up and he even said hi and that he wishes us well!"

"Doubt it. He sent me a very strongly worded text, post our break up."

I covered my face with my hands and groaned. "Oh my Irene that's so embarrassing... How did he even find out that we broke up?" I'm kinda glad I didn't mention Gene. It might've stirred up more drama, and that's the last thing I need with B/n.

"I'm guessing he stalked my Instagram to see that I deleted all my pictures of us... Since you blocked him before we broke up, he had to have found out through me! If anything, he's obsessed with me. How'd it really go?"

"Truth be told, I didn't have the chance to mention you. He was with his wife, so we just made up and made plans for another day. Laurance and I didn't end up staying for too long after." Speaking of Laurance...do I mention his confession? I'd rather not create unnecessary tension... Gene's adamant about the past being in the past, but I'm not sure how he'd react to Laurance having feelings for me now. If he got possessive that'd be... No! We're only at first base. What's wrong with me...

Gene's gentle hand on my right shoulder managed to make me flinch. "Are you gonna tell him the next time you guys meet up?"

I nodded, crossing my left arm over and placing my hand atop Gene's. So warm. "I can already hear his berating, but the sooner the better."

He leaned over and kissed my forehead. "Yeah, your brother's temper-tantrum is gonna be worse than Dante's giddiness."

"Gee, thanks a lot." I brought my knees to my chest and crawled to Gene's side as he began lying down. We turned to look at each other.

"I'll make it up to you," he offered, bringing his face closer to mine.

"How?" As if I don't know what he means.

He smirked before pressing his lips and moving them with mine. That's all I was expecting, but he caught me off guard as he pinned me between his arms and kissed the corner of my mouth, trailing down to my neck. I tilted my head back as my mind turned to mush.

He went back to lying next to me. "Even?"

I hid my face in his chest and nodded. It took just that and I'm this worked up... I missed this.
