I held my head in my hands. It was December 23rd, and I still hadn't gotten my period. It would happen from time to time, but for the most part I was regular. What if I'm a Rachel? Instead of resulting from a one-night stand, it'd be from a multiple-night st— I'M AN IDIOT! I should've just manned up, scheduled a doctor's appointment, and gotten on birth control but nooo! How am I supposed to tell—

No, no. I have to take a pregnancy test, first. I'm probably late because of stress. With so many commissions this month on top of Christmas shopping...that's gotta be it! After yanking on my coat and slipping on a pair of boots, I headed out to the end of the street where my Uber was waiting. As soon as I saw the car, the color from my face drained. Oh there's no way.

I got into the car and sighed. "Hi...Zenix. Wasn't expecting you."

"When I saw the pick up location, I was hoping it'd be anyone other than you," he said. "I'm just doing this for a bit since a lot of people are desperate for rides and thankfully prefer to sit in silence."

"Rude, first of all, but...wouldn't people be more chatty around this time? With their holiday cheer and all that?"

"No, that's only you because you're annoying."

I've barely said anything! "Whatever, just take me to the nearest drug store..."

"Why didn't you just ask Gene?" Zenix questioned.

"Cause I don't know when your car is available?? You're in the makings of a bad review and tip."

He finally began driving. "I don't want your money."

"Why do you hate me?" I asked.

"Waiving your fee is actually me being nice."

Why do you have to say it so rude then?! "...Right, thanks."

"Anyways, you care too much."

My brows knit together. "That was a first book problem."

"What?"

"What?"

The rest of the drive was in silence until we pulled into a Walgreens parking lot. It was only about a ten minute drive, but I was struggling to hold in sniffles and tears.

Zenix groaned. "I'm gonna regret asking this, but what's wrong?"

"N-Nothing!" I stammered. "It's just cold."

He questioned my explanation but ended up rolling his eyes, saying he didn't really care. Despite this, he offered to pick up what I needed. I shook my head and said I'd go alone, but...he ended up following me inside anyway. How am I supposed to pick up a PREGNANCY TEST without him asking anything?! I wandered around the aisles, realizing I had no idea where to look. An employee asked if I needed help, but I declined. Maybe I should've just asked. Zenix is gonna find out anyway. After a while of wandering, I finally found what I needed.

There were several options, and I felt myself begin to perspire. Aren't they all the same?!

"What are you doing staring at the...wait, are these what you've been looking for?!" Zenix demanded.

"Um, yeah," I squeaked.

"Have you told Gene about this?"

How can I avoid this... "No, it's not for me."

Zenix scoffed. "Then who is it for."

My expression was blank. JUST SAY ANY NAME! ANY NAME WILL DO!

He narrowed his eyes at me. "It's not for Sasha, is it?"

"Ew." The remark escaped me before I could think. "I'm not telling you who it's for. They want to keep it private."
