Epilogue

Today's just like any other day, except it isn't. It really isn't. In fact, it's probably the biggest day of my life. It was like...just two days ago that Gene proposed. What do you mean today I get married?! Dated for a year, engaged for almost eight months, and soon to be married till the end of time. Time whizzes by with Gene, but I really hope the rest of life takes its time. Should I add that to my vows?

No, I need to keep them as they are and how I practiced them. Realistically, if I screw up on my vows, I'll probably end up crying, and we don't need that. One look into Gene's eyes and I'll be at a loss for words cause of how pretty they are... Maybe I should avoid eye contact and look at his chest. UGH BUT HIS CHEST IS HOT WHAT IF I BLUSH AND START STUTTERING?! Maybe we should give our vows back to back so he's not in my field of view... Usually I look at Gene for reassurance and to pull myself together, but I feel like if I look at him today, I'll just grin like an idiot and want to kiss him.

I felt a squeeze on my shoulders, causing me to look up, meeting eyes with Mom, who was doing my hair and makeup.

"Honey, please stay still so I don't mess up," she chided.

"Sorry! I'm just really nervous."

S/n, who was standing outside the bathroom, stuck her head in. "You were like this when Gene took you to prom, too. Now that I'm thinking about it, this situation..."

"Too much deja vu," I said.

"Only this time, you're gonna be wearing a white dress!" S/n remarked.

"S/n, it's best that Y/n forgets that it's her wedding," Mom said. "She'll keep shaking otherwise."

"I'll stop, I promise!" I exclaimed. "No thoughts, head empty."

S/n laughed. "Good, return to your normal state!"

"Don't you mean your normal state? Sis, go get ready!"

"Okay, bridezilla~"

What a sister I have to be teasing me on my wedding day; I'm not even acting crazy! "Mom, did you keep S/n on a leash when she was little?"

Mom sighed. "No, your sister was not a leash kid. Y/n, by the sounds of it, if I had raised you when you were little, I would've kept you on a leash."

"Cause I'd be so cute you wouldn't want to let me go?"

"I wish I could've seen you grow up, but you're so cute even now, Y/n. How are you getting married already? It was just yesterday I was getting you ready for prom. Oh, look at what your sister put into my head!"

Oh, Mom. The year I went to prom was a little over ten years ago...

"I know what you're thinking. I just feel so old thinking about everything, and it makes me sad to think about how much of your life I missed out on."

"Mom, I'm still your daughter no matter what. Please don't feel bad about the past."

Mom shook her head. "I shouldn't pester you with these things. S/n seems to have any pestering covered."

I groaned. "Please keep her under control at the venue. It's not too late to harness her up."

"I'm not sure what that'll do to stop her teasing... Even then, it is a bit too late with her being 20."

"Oh my Irene, she's 20," I said.

Mom giggled. "I guess we're both feeling old right now. She was supposed to keep me young!"

"Speaking of old, where's Dad?"

"He and I are the same age! Don't you dare call him old!"

Mom informed me that he went to go check on the venue earlier, but that he should be back by now. She peeked outside the bathroom, called for him, and soon enough, he appeared. Mom began on the finishing touches of my makeup while he and I talked.
