"You look like a dork!" I exclaimed.
It was Gene's graduation day, and the ceremony had just wrapped up. After talking to his family and getting pictures, he made his way to Sasha, Zenix, and I.
"Pretty sure you're supposed to say 'congratulations', but have it your way, actual dork." He wrapped an arm around me. "Who actually looks good in these stupid blue gowns?"
"I'm sure I could pull it off," I boasted.
"If you even manage to graduate," Zenix said.
Sasha elbowed him. "Says you."
Gene laughed. "No, he has a point."
I rolled my eyes. "Glad I don't have to see you every day anymore."
"Aw c'mon, I was just kidding. It's pretty hard to fail high school. I believe in you, Y/n."
"Hmm, okay! Anyways, I'd like a picture with the dashing graduate before me."
Gene grimaced. "Absolutely not. I'd like to get this thing off me and get to the park for lunch."
"One picture surely can't hurt," Sasha interjected.
"We need a memento before you leave, Gene," Zenix added.
"You have PLENTY!" Gene shouted. "My parents already took enough pictures!"
I pouted. "But please, I'm your biggest fan!"
Gene's eyes met mine and he sighed. "Why must you be the way you are... Ugh, fine."
"Oh my gosh, you still have that?" I giggled.
Currently, Gene and I were looking through an old shoebox of pictures he had kept under the bed. There weren't any of just the two of us from back then, but in his hands was a group photo with us, Sasha, and Zenix.
He leaned his head atop of mine. "I can't believe this past May marked a decade since high school for me."
August had once again rolled around, and today marked our one year anniversary. Not only that, but...it's almost been three months since Gene asked me to move in with him!! I don't think it's too early to say I finally found my favorite roommate, right? Sasha and Zenix were planning on moving out when Gene asked me, so it ended up working out. Living with Katelyn and Kawaii~chan was short-lived, but they knew there was no stopping me! To make up for my 'betrayal', I make sure to hang out with them every week. As for Gene and I's anniversary, we planned a picnic for a light lunch and an early dinner at a high-class restaurant, just to be cliché for a day~ The rest of the night...well, we have a few ideas.
"You're even more dashing now," I said.
Gene flicked the picture, targeting himself. "Became a better guy, too. I hate high school me."
Can't necessarily disagree if we're talking about when we first met and started dating. Luckily, we worked past everything; if we didn't back then...who knows where we'd be now. "There, there, you were just filled with teenage angst and a 'don't get close, I'm dangerous' attitude!"
"That's...not far from the truth. Anyways, I think that's it for old pictures. Let's get ready for our picnic, dork."
I winced, pressing my nose to his. "Don't you think 'dork' is a bit high school?"
He grinned. "I've been calling you that since last summer; you don't get to complain now."
"Fineeee..." I still don't have an annoying pet name for him! Unless you count 'jerk' and me sometimes calling him 'dork' back, but even then!
