I stood furiously tapping away at my phone.
Y/n: I can't believe you
Y/n: this is with one of my best friends! this gonna be so weird
Y/n: at least it's at a bar... maybe it won't be so bad after getting a couple of drinks before he shows upAph: GURL U COULD'VE TOLD HIM U CHANGED YOUR MIND
Aph: Also, this be casual drinks! Ur too poor for a lot of drinks anywayY/n: I DON'T KNOW HOW TO SAY NO! I never said yes in the first place!!! YOU did
Y/n: ugh. true...Aph: You want me to text him and tell him you cancel? If he isn't there yet, maybe he still at his hotel
Y/n: Cancelling last minute is really rude :/
A familiar voice calling my name grabbed my attention from my phone. I recognized the voice to be Lucas's, so I quickly shot Aph a text saying that I had to get going and tucked my phone away. I greeted Lucas, and we stepped into a bar he's frequented.
Upon sitting down, we began catching each other up on life.
"...So, what brings you to Love~Love Paradise?" I asked.
"On a semi-vacation," he replied. "My dad said that he doesn't see me enough, so he brought me and his other family on a trip here. I knew I couldn't just not work, considering my situation, so I got a job at the mall. I only have a set amount of vacation days per year at my job back home, so I'm not gonna be here long."
"Considering your situation?" I echoed. "You're still sending money to your mom?" Lucas's parents divorced when he was starting high school, so it was just him and his mom until he moved out for college. His mom never seemed to recover from her husband leaving her and starting a new family... Their marriage never seemed the best to begin with, but I can't imagine the pain of seeing the one you once loved move on. It's probably best to just not see them at all.
Lucas sighed. "Yeah, even though I've been on my own for a while. She has no one else for her, since she never remarried, and she's a fragile lady. She works, but she doesn't make enough to afford her needs. She's not able to qualify for assistance from the government, which really sucks. I feel bad, but..."
"She's not the easiest to be around?" I offered. "She did scream like a banshee at me when I was in fifth grade, after all."
He laughed. "You shouldn't have 'ruined' my 'perfect' face." His expression turned into a grimace. "I can't believe she was so possessive! She thought I would be a model. Luckily my dad encouraged me to do what I wanted. If I was gonna be a model, I wouldn't have been in our friend group... A model wouldn't fit in at all."
"Hmm... Yeah, probably not," I replied.
There was a bit of a pause where we both ordered drinks, and after acquiring them, Lucas broke our silence.
"What brings you here?"
I shrugged. "Vacation. Two of my friends won some contest and got tickets for the group."
"Ah, neat. I've only met Aphmau of your new friends... Are there a lot of them?" he asked.
"I guess there is!" I answered.
"I'd love to meet them all." He smiled. "It's crazy to think that socially awkward little Y/n has the most friends out of everyone from our group..."
I sheepishly laughed. "To be honest, I wouldn't say I'm friends with all of them. I met or knew of all of them from high school, but I only consider myself friends with two of the guys I met in sophomore year and Aphmau. The others I got to know recently after they moved onto F/n and I's street."
