Chapter 2: "Training Time"

The lights turned on, revealing a white room featuring various posters of race cars. The spy was revealed to have brown undercut hair and a white and blue shirt with the Tomy Racing logo on it.

???: The Tomy Racing Special Training Facility!

Hidetoshi: Uhhh, who's a what now? Who even are you?

Naomi: You guys can call me Yamagata Naomi, AKA the champion of the Formula One division of the 2002 Slot Car Racing World Championship!

Kakuei: And just why are we here?

Naomi: The Tomy Racing Club has selected YOU to be their next driver!

Kakuei: Me? A racing driver?

Naomi: Yep. You'll be competing in the World AI Championship as our replacement for Yoneno Hasumi, who got fired last year.

Kakuei's eyes were sparkling like the stars in the night sky, his mouth was agape.

Kakuei: Eeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!

Wakumi: Just why exactly are you excited about racing?

Kakuei: Come on, guys. It's not only been my dream to compete in a worldwide racing tournament, but also to race for the Tomy Racing Club, aka, the most successful racing team in all of model racing!

Hidetoshi: Yeah big whoop.

Naomi: Kakuei, why don't you and your friends come with me.

Kakuei: Certainly, Mr. Yamagata. It'll be my pleasure.

Hidetoshi: Might as well enjoy the ride.

The four of them stepped onto a conveyor belt that led them straight through a door. At the other side was a room with giant glass cabinets that displayed various slot cars from the Tomy team.

Kakuei: Too cool!

The conveyor belt stopped and Hidetoshi rushed over to a cabinet that contained a white, red and blue car.

Hidetoshi: Ok, this car honestly looks pretty cool.

Naomi: That's the AFX-1, a Nissan GTR model slot car that won every Racing Turbo GT Style championship between 2002 and 2005.

Kakuei: 2002, 2004 and 2005 actually. 2003's championship was won by Team GReddy and their Porsche 962 called Lunar Moon.

Naomi: How'd you know?

Kakuei: I have an immense amount of racing knowledge.

Naomi: That's perfect! Now, onto the testing area.

The conveyor belt got moving again, this time into a grey room with an ovular racing track.

Kakuei: This is the testing area?

Naomi: Yep. Also take this.

Naomi gave Kakuei a grey AI car with a blue Tomy Racing logo on its hood. Kakuei felt excited.

Kakuei: Sweet!

Kakuei almost put the AI car on the track, but was stopped by Naomi.

Naomi: Woah there, before you put the car on the track, let me hand you the controller.

Naomi handed Kakuei a rounded cubical object with three buttons on it.

Kakuei: What do all these buttons do?

Naomi: Let me tell you. The button on the bottom starts the car and can also stop it. The middle button switches your car's speed between fast and slow. And finally, the top button engages turbo boost.
