“What is it?” I asked.

“I remember.”

“So, what’s wrong?”

“Ugh, I’m so stupid!” Adam said to himself.

“What?” I asked.

“You don’t give children sugar at night because-” Adam was cut off by the door opening.

“Daddy we isn’t sleep, I is tired, but I isn’t sleep…” Kyu said, coming in with the others, he seemed scared of something.

“Why not?” I asked, looking at Adam then back at Kyu.

“I is having bad dreams…” Kyu said staying away from the bed and looking around it warily.

“Come here, you can sleep with us.” I offered, but Kyu looked at the bottom of the bed and shook his head.

“What’s wrong, what are you so afraid of?” Drew said looking at the bed confused.

“They is monsters under beds.” Lyn said shakily.

“No, not our bed, our bed is monster free, wanna know why?” Drew said, to which the boys all nodded.

“The monsters are scared of Daddy and me.” Drew said the boys seemed fascinated.

“Why is they monsters scared of Daddy and you?” Jace asked wide-eyed.

“Because we hunted all the monsters in the house down and got rid of them, so they don’t come back here anymore.” Drew sounded like he was telling a story, but the boys listened intently.

“The ones that is under the bed?” Kyu asked, Drew nodded.

“What about the ones that is in the closet?” Lyn asked, staring at our closet, Drew nodded.

“The ones that is in the windows?” Alon asked, Drew nodded.

“Even the ones that is in the sock drawer?” Jace asked.

“Yes Jace…we checked the sock drawer.” Drew said.

“Good, you isn’t never wanting the monsters in your socks.” Jace said climbing into the bed.

“Yeah, come here my little Lynie, you can sleep with Daddy.” He said scooping Lyn up off the floor; he looked scared and exhausted, but smiled at the cute nickname Drew had given him.

“Kyu come here.” I said picking Kyu up, he looked as if he would’ve fallen asleep on the floor if I hadn’t.

“Mm, I’m tired…” Kyu said with his eyes half open.

“I know you are, you should go to sleep if you’re tired.” I said. He snuggled into me; I could hear the small soft thudding of his heart and the slow in-out of his breathing. Alon snuggled into Drew with Lyn, and Jace snuggled with me and Kyu and fell asleep.

~Kids are a blessing, but that’s what makes parenting so hard, for these types of blessings need special care~
