Emmy had just arrived home after dropping Camryn off at school for the day. Home. It felt weird in her head to be home after dropping her off. It was such a rare occasion for her not to be working that her body wasn't even used to it as she pulled herself out of the car.

She managed an off day through claiming "family emergency" even though her plans were really just to pack her and Camryn's bags so that they could leave for Virginia right after school. In a way, it was an emergency of sorts. Emmy was working on a deadline in her decision of whether or not to uproot her entire life, so getting to Virginia as fast as possible was quite urgent.

She had taken Jasmine's advice and decided to book a flight to feel everything out. Slowly, and day by day, she was leaning slightly more towards her options on the west coast, but she wanted to give everything a fair chance.

Before her thoughts got too rabbit-holed, she went to the closet they kept the luggage in and pulled out a bag. Typically, she was one to overpack, but as this was a 2 day trip and she did not want to waste time on checking a bag, she settled on a duffel bag that her and Camryn could share.

Into her closet she went, loosely throwing items in the bag. She made sure to pack one nice outfit to meet the department, but other than that she kept it casual and headed into Camryn's room.

Camryn was easy. All she need was a couple cute outfits and pajamas. She'd be with her grandma and grandpa for most of the trip and Emmy imagined the activities would consist of: trips to the park, ice cream dates, and perhaps a little gardening if her mom could convince Camryn.

She was done with packing well before 11 am. Technically, she didn't need to be off the entire day to pack, but with the way things were still going at the company, she never knew what time she would get off, and she didn't want to risk missing a flight.

Taking advantage of this unusual yet very welcomed abundance of free time, Emmy fell down on her couch with her snack of choice: apples and peanut butter. She munched on while scrolling though her phone mindlessly. The plate of food disappeared much too quickly for her liking and she suddenly needed something else to occupy her time.

She went to her Messages app and clicked the first pinned conversation that just happened to be her texts to Daveed. "Off work today. Can I bring you lunch?" she texted him, ending the message with a smiley face emoji.

"Never saying no to that. You can help me grade papers. I get a break at 12," he texted her back.

Perfect, she thought to herself as she stood from the couch. As she walked over to the kitchen, she quickly texted back, "I'll be there."

She had planned to just make up some crossaint sandwiches with a couple sides but the lightbulb in her brain had her stopping just as she was grabbing the turkey from the fridge. "Ooh!" she jumped as the idea to suprise him came along. She thought that he had probably already planned to eat a sandwich, and he didn't really need another one.

She grabbed her keys and headed to the car, having just enough time to stop at CAVA before going to his school. The line inside the restaurant wasn't terribly long but there was a little wait before she had the two bowls in her hand.

At the school, she had to get checked in as a visitor before she could go up to his classroom. Once she was there, her hands knocked on the door. "Mr. Diggs, the principal would like to see you in her office," she said in a high-pitched voice before poking her head in.

"The principal's office?" he played along, "Am I in trouble?" he stood from his desk an inched towards the door.

"So much trouble," Emmy broke into giggles before stepping into the room.
