"Seokjin hyung?" Jimin called silently. He was currently standing outside of the older alpha's bedroom at 5 AM, knocking on the white wood door gently. There was a weak rustling coming from inside and the omega waited patiently for the sound to settle and the man to open the door.
"What is it Jimin-ah?" He heard the alpha say weakly and only moments after, the door opened, revealing a tired looking Seokjin, still in his pajamas and hair disheveled on his head. "I am sorry to wake you hyung." The omega started, feeling slightly ashamed at his decision when he looked at the tired and slightly annoyed face of the other. "It's okay. I would have to wake up in half an hour anyway. But why are you up so early?" The alpha closed the door behind him and gestured for the other to walk into the living room on the other side of the hall. "Well, I woke up early because I have an important question to ask you and I wanted to ask you before you go to work." Seokjin let his body fall heavily into the couch with a tired exhale, meanwhile the omega chose to take a seat in the chair opposite to him.
"Is there a particular reason for that?" The older asked, and Jimin felt a slight blush grow on his face. "There is." He told silently. "You see, I really wanted to ask you if I could get a job at the restaurant. I-it doesn't have to be much, I can do the dishes or waiter tables." The older alpha sighed and let his slumped body sit up straighter on the couch. "Jimin-ah." He said strictly. "We have already been over this. You owe me nothing. I am letting you live here because I want to. You don't have to feel obligated to pay for your stay." Jimin nodded, they had already been over this, and every time the alpha would tell him the same thing. That all he needed was for them to take care of each other.
It wasn't solely because he felt like he owed the man that he was asking for a job though. "It's not just that." He told the alpha, and he knew he sounded desperate. "I just.... In school we had a structured plan of how and when we needed to do things. When to wake up, when to go to class, when and what to eat...and in a way I am glad I don't have that same plan, but sitting at home all day without having any form of structure...It's driving me crazy, hyung! I spend my days in a daze of boredom. Hyung, please let me do this!" Towards the end of his rant, he was straight out begging. Of course, he was beyond grateful for Seokjin and everything he had done for them. He wasn't going to lie, for the first time in what felt like forever, Jimin actually felt content. Namjoon was finally awake, Hoseok was smiling brighter than he ever had before, they had a roof over their heads and the chef of a restaurant to make them food whenever they asked. Had he been asked a month ago about how he thought his life would be in the future, this scenario would have been at the very bottom of the list of possibilities. This would have been a beyond unimaginable situation.
Still, he couldn't get over the fact that he felt his days were crawling along painfully slow. There was nothing to do! They couldn't go outside since it was a risk in case there were people looking for them, they couldn't seem to make the television work when Seokjin wasn't home, and there was a limit to the time he could spend doting on a constantly sleeping Namjoon.
He knew he should be grateful for everything the alpha had done for them; he was grateful. Yet he nonetheless couldn't help but feel that he needed something more to fill his days. At school they had always had a routine, a tight schedule to follow that would keep them occupied for the majority of the day. Sure, he was still recovering, so he knew he had his limits, but somehow, he felt himself longing for something to do. He also couldn't help but feel slightly guilty every time he conversed with the house owner. They were taking up space and resources and the man kept juggling between work and caring and cooking for them. Seokjin was right, he did feel like he owed him something for his hospitality.
"This is why you woke me up?" The alpha asked through a yawn and a hand went up to rub at his eye. "It is hyung. Sorry." The omega put his head down in shame. Seokjin did not look amused in the slightest by his actions, and the younger felt a new pang of guilt shoot through him. "Don't apologize Jimin. It's fine." The alpha told him, a slight, genuine smile on his lips.
