After I waved a quick goodbye to Shawn, my heart began beating faster and faster against my chest as my I came closer and closer to the living room, where my apparent visitors were waiting for me. This was just what I needed. Some angry parent was probably pacing around my living room all upset either over how I've corrupted their child or how I broke something in their house while I was in party mode. I didn't need that today, and I put on my best game face as I prepared myself to battle whatever bullshit was about to be thrown my way next. But what, or I should probably say who, I saw waiting on the couch for me instantly caused my features to mold themselves into the widest grin I'd been able to manage for a while.

"You're back!" I squealed, running into Jack and Jack's arms as they stood up from the couch. They pulled me into a joint bear-hug, not letting go as they asked about a million questions. Yeah, Jack and Jack were my best friend's boyfriends, and I could see how this would seem weird to some people, but those people seem to forget who has been these two idiots' best friend since they were in the fifth grade. These days, it was all about who was fucking and who was the best dressed. The boys sat back on the couch as Johnson pulled me back onto his lap while Gilinsky simultaneously tossed my short legs over his own long ones. I could still feel myself smiling as I began to realized how much I truly missed them nowadays, since they graduated already due to being two years older than me.

"So, we wanted to surprise the girls..." Johnson said. Gilinsky picked up where he left off.

"And we wanted you to come with us so you could like throw them off by walking in first or something like that." My eyes lit up at the idea. I loved surprises so much, and I knew this would make Sofi and Mikayla so unbelievably happy. My eyes darted from Johnson to Gilinsky over and over again as my excitement grew, but then it occurred to me that I hardly knew the boundaries of my punishment. I sat forward a little, my back breaking contact with Johnson's chest. I began to call out for my mother to get her input, but only to be interrupted by Johnson.

"Uh-uh," he interjected, wiggling a finger back and forth and raising his eyebrows. "We already worked it out with Mama Landenna. You have an hour." My jaw fell slightly ajar and I thought my eyes were going to pop out of my head when I looked back over at the boys. This was unbelievable. My mom always liked the Jacks more than she liked me.

"Okay, then," I responded, the corners of my mouth pulling back to show off my white teeth. "Let's do this thing."

Gilinsky's reunion with Sofi was nothing besides disgustingly adorable, and nothing less was expected from them. They were that couple who couldn't seem to keep their hands off of each other, or more so their mouths. It was absolutely cringe-worthy, but I had to admit, there wasn't one person in the school that wasn't at least secretly jealous of the relationship they had. After they were finished with their gross display of affection, Sofi insisted on accompanying us to Mikayla. She lived for the sappy romance stories and cheesy surprises.

"Mikayla?" I called out, casually opening the front door to her two-story home, strolling in as if I belong there. My friends made their best attempt to stay on their tiptoes and avoid the creaky places on the floor, which was definitely a sign that we knew each other's houses far too well. I couldn't help but smile; this had to be absolutely perfect for Mikayla. She'd been missing Johnson so much, and I couldn't even imagine the happiness she would feel just at the sight of him walking through that door. I motioned for the three of them to hide behind the nearest wall to the kitchen as I heard her respond to me, determining that was the source of the sound. I walked around the corner to greet her, and I was shocked at who I saw with her. Shawn? This wasn't good.

"Oh, um, hey Audrey," Shawn muttered nervously before chewing on his bottom lip. I could almost feel the anxiety radiating off of him. What the hell was going on? My eyes widened as they flashed between Mikayla and Shawn, who both looked surprisingly unfazed. Shawn began to nonchalantly sip on his water and Mikayla tapped her perfectly painted nails against the hard wood of the back of the chair as she looked at me. I angrily marched towards them, and I admit, I was totally looking for something scandalous, but I found myself sighing in relief as I saw the homework spread out before them on the table. They were doing math homework. Thank god.
