"I don't know if working there made your lives or mine much easier than me being here. I mean, the pay is good but..."

"It was lonely."

Hanaoka Fuyumi grunted as she took her suitcase and pulled it with her. She went outside of the airport and frowned as the sunlight hit her face.

She already missed the funeral of her grandfather due to the delay of her flight. Fuyumi won't deny that she was frustrated about it.

She couldn't believe that her grandfather is now gone. One of the most important people in her life and she wasn't with her family to mourn. One of the people that supported her dream to become a professional photographer. And one of the reasons why she was motivated to go overseas to study even though she was apart from her family.

Fuyumi cried alone that day when her brother told her that their only grandparent left had died.

The girl sighed as she called for a cab. She didn't even bother to call her mother and let her pick her up at the airport.

It's not like she cannot handle this luggage all by herself.

After a half-hour of travel, she got to the bus stop and waited for a bus to take her to the town where her family lives. It was a bit secluded and only small vehicles traveled there.

She was completely alone at the bus stop. The girl tapped her index finger on her luggage's handle as she waited patiently.

It has been years since she was home. When she left, Fujio was still a kid running around Hope Hill with her friends. It was a shitty place. At a young age, she learned how to fight and protect her brother because their neighborhood is full of dangerous people.

Fuyumi sighed in relief as she saw a bus approaching. As soon as it stopped she carried her luggage and hopped on the bus.

She traveled for another thirty minutes until she reached the town. Now, she will need to take a fifteen-minute walk to get to her grandpa's house.

The girl huffed and pulled her luggage as she started to walk. It will take her some time to get there, she's glad she put on her black running shoes instead of her combat boots. Also, her outfit is much more comfortable, she just wore a black plaid shirt, a plain white V-neck shirt underneath it, and ripped jeans.

It was a sunny afternoon and Fuyumi can already feel the sweat dripping down her forehead. Her throat felt dry and her feet are starting to get sore. She hasn't walked like this for a while now.

Fuyumi stopped walking as she heard the phone inside her pocket buzz. She took it out and answered the call.

[Hey, aren't you supposed to be here already?] her mom, Hanaoka Miki, asked on the other line.
