Drazhan walked inside Delta Airlines' headquarters with his secretary on his toes. He walked down several corridors till he arrived at the elevator. As he approached the elevator, the doors opened to reveal Judith. A strange solace flooded over his burning heart, and before he realized it, his body and mind felt lighter, as if a burden had been lifted from him. He neared Judith and she stormed out of the elevator. He could sense the blazing wrath inside her from a few feet away, which confused him, but as she approached, her face and eyes turned icy cold. She said coldly, with an eerie smile.
"I hope you are satisfied!" She didn't stop for a second after that as she stormed out of the building.
Drazhan whirled around, his face contorted with perplexity, and stared at her fleeing body.
"What just happened!" Lilian shook her head as he muttered in confusion.
"I have no idea, sir, but she seemed furious!"
"Find out what happened," Drazhan said, turning around to face the elevator, and Lilian nodded. Drazhan pressed the button, but the elevator stopped and at the fourth floor. Soon after, the elevator door opened, and a woman groaning and grasping a broken nose rushed out, blood flowing from her palm, followed by a few men. Drazhan stepped away from the blood so he wouldn't step on it.
"Wasn't that-" he remarked, pointing to the rushing woman, to which Lilian nodded. "Joanne Smith sir."
"This is turning out to be a wild day!" Drazhan shook his head, his eyes wide. "Let's go find out exactly what happened; I wouldn't be surprised if Judith was responsible for that broken nose," Drazhan remarked as he walked into the elevator, and Lilian followed.
"I'm positive Captain Judith was responsible for that broken nose." Lilian swallowed as she said, her voice astonished and shocked.
Judith started to leave the Los Angeles International Airport on foot. As she walked down the sidewalk, a shadow loomed over her face. She has no idea what she will do now that she has lost her job. She had joined Delta Airlines to help her pay off her debts since she could earn more money, but now that that final resort is gone, she is at a loss for what to do. As she walked, a million thoughts and possibilities raced through her mind. Later, she rode the train to her station, from whence she walked to her apartment. It was already 11 p.m. when she arrived at her apartment, but the door was locked and it appeared that her father had not yet returned home. She walked in without turning on the lights after unlocking the door with the spare key. She was familiar with this small apartment, and even in the dark, she found her way to her room without stumbling over any furniture.
She put down her blazer on the bed as she slid down on the floor. Her back was against the wall of her bedroom, and her arms hung over her folded knees. Her head sank low as her body was rocked by quiet sobs. Flying had been all she had ever wanted to do, but she had now punched the door shut on that way of life. Above her dream was the amount of debt that was crushing her father and that she had desperately tried to lift.
She hadn't realized her father had come in until he was kneeling in front of her, drawing her into his arms. As Fabian tried to console her, she sobbed in his arms.
"They fired me, Dad." As Fabian drew her closer, she murmured in between sobs.
"It's all right, sweetheart." He tried to console her, but her sobs grew louder.
"It's all right. We'll be alright, I promise." As his daughter sobbed on his shoulder, Fabian muttered softly. The night flew by as Fabian put her to bed and left her to get some sleep.
The days passed while she looked for work, but her HR report had already reached every possible place where she could look for a job. As a last option, she began working for her father in his barely afloat business.
