"Come with me," he muttered as he pulled Judith with him.
"Where?" She asked as she followed him towards a secluded corner of the dance floor where only a few couples were dancing.
They fell into step, allowing the beat to guide their movements. Everything around them, including the scenery and people, vanished. It was only him and her. His brown eyes sparkled. Uncontrollable emotions flooded her body, and her skin tingled with delight. His hand caressed her cheek. He drew her close to his chest, and she wrapped her arms around her neck.
Her dark hair fell over her eyes like a curtain, blotting all the light. He wished to look into those slate blue eyes.
She drew her hand back to brush her hair, but his hand clutched onto hers. He placed her delicate hand on his shoulder with tenderness. Her slate blue eyes twinkled back at him as he tenderly tucked her lock behind her ear. Moments flew by as they swayed along with the music. They were both silent and stared at each other, not saying anything.
"Are you going to say something?" Judith asked and he nodded his head.
"Then speak!" She exclaimed and he once again nodded his head and kept staring at her. "Why are you staring at me like that?" She asked and he sighed.
"I'm admiring you. And waiting for you to run away." He muttered and Judith frowned.
"Why would I run away?" She asked perplexed.
"Because I am a beast and I can lose my control anytime and hurt you. Like I did that night and tried to hurt you once again a week ago." He twirled her around and pulled her back into his chest. "And with you here, my beast is on the edge. It has become painful for me to control him at this point."
"Then why not just set him free?" She asked and he shook his head.
"I can't do that."
"Why not?"
"Do you want to get marked by my beast now? He might even mate with you in wolf form and I won't be able to do anything, because I have no control over him."
"Is um is mating what I think it is?" Judith asked with a slightly horrified expression.
"Yes." His large calloused hand gently brushed against her cheeks delicately, his eyes dripping with affection and admiration. "I never imagined to find you. My other half, my moon-blessed. But the moment I saw you, I felt this unbearable attraction and that only grew with each moment we spent together. I became so much possessive of you without even realising it. Then when the beast once again awakened after years that night, I finally understood who you were to me. I hated to even think about you with someone else and it pained me to stay away from you. But I'm even more afraid of hurting you and pulling you in a world of unknown and uncertainty."
"What do you mean?"
"I believe Kieran has told you about us being soulmates?" He asked and she nodded her head. "Being soulmates means once you choose me and I mark you, your soul be intertwined with mine and you will be stuck with me for life. You will be dragged into the world of werewolves and every other supernatural. And possibly our children will be beasts like me and they might even have the same fate as mine and struggle their entire lives. You can walk away, reject me and live your life. Without the fear of being hurt by your soulmate." Drazhan stopped and Judith stared at him with wide eyes.
"You will never hurt me! And even if you did and I reject you what will happen to you?"
"I did hurt you, Judith. And while you were on the operating table, I was once again running away from my problems and had locked myself up. The beast in me won't be able to accept the rejection and will possibly die and that will set me free." He chuckled and Judith narrowed her eyes.
