Chapter Fourteen| Destiny
Why does baggage claim have to take so long?
Honestly, I'm kind of glad it's taking forever because my brothers are supposed to be picking me up from the airport.
I'm not going to lie and say I'm not upset about what they did because I am. They were way out of line, I understand that I am their sister and they don't want to see me hurting but there are boundaries, that they just simply cannot cross.
The luggage starts to come down again, and spot my stuff. Grabbing it quickly and heading for the departing doors. It's a little past six p.m., and it is already dark outside.
But, I'm still able to spot Eric's truck with Tyler standing on the outside of it with Trevor.
They noticed me walking toward them.
Tyler throws his hands up, "What took you so long, we've been freezing our asses off."
I ignore him, taking my bag off of my shoulder and throwing it into his open hands. He smacks his teeth, putting both of my bags in the trunk, with Trevor's help.
They start to whisper to each other, while I climbed into the back seat. After closing the trunk, Trev drove, while Tyler got in the passenger seat.
The drive was quiet. When we arrived at the house, I notice both front yards were decorated with twinkle lights. Ours had an inflatable snowman, which I'm still surprised works because we got that thing when I was in my freshman year of high school.
A little bit of snow lingered on the ground, from what I'm guessing is yesterday's snowfall.
I hopped out of the car, opened the trunk with swiftness, and grabbed my bags.
Trev came over and grabbed my bag off my shoulder, not saying anything. Probably noticing my visible upsetness. While Tyler decides to keep a safe distance.
We walked into the house, and Marcus and Nick came up to us with bright smiles. I keep my look stern.
"What's your problem?" Nick directed his question to me.
"I don't know, Nick. What do you think my problem is?" I respond.
He shrugs his shoulders, trying to act stupid.
I huff, "When you went to go beat up my ex-boyfriend, did it ever occur to you that I would find out?"
Tyler curses from behind me.
"What the hell were you thinking doing something so idiotic like that?"
Marcus spoke up, "It was Tyler's idea."
"Damn, remind me not to share any more secrets with yo ass," Tyler said under his breath.
"What's going on in here?" My mother asked when walking into the room. The rest of the parents followed.
All of the boys looked around at each other, with alarmed eyes.
I shift my gaze to Tyler, my mother noticing.
"Destiny, why are you looking at Tyler like that?" she asked me.
Before I could say anything, Marcus spoke up. "Destiny is mad at us for beating up Brandon, behind her back."
Well, damn, I wasn't even going to snitch.
"Y'all did what?"Diana asked.
I sigh, "I saw Brandon the other day, with bruises, he came up to me wanting to apologize for what he did to me. I asked how he got the bruises he told me that they beat him up."
"Are you boys serious, you guys just can't go around doing this? What if someone saw and reported you to the police, then what would you have done." my mother expressed angrily.
"Trev, you have a career you can't do things like that," Dan said to Trev.
"Actually I wasn't there cause I had training," Trev said.
"But, if you didn't, you would've been there, right?"
"uhh, yeah," Trev said rubbing the back of his head.
Diana shakes her head in disappointment.
"All of you need to apologize to Destiny for doing what you did."
"I'm sorry, Destiny," they all said in unison.
This reminds me of when we were younger.
"It's okay, guys. Just let me handle my life from now on, please."
They nod their heads in agreement.
While my mother continues her hot gaze on my brothers, while I take my bags upstairs. Opened my room door, to see it is just how I left it. I flop onto my bed, laying on my back. And sigh, placing my hands on top of my face. Then, there is a knock on my door.
What now?
"Come in," I sit upon my elbows.
My door creaks open.
Trev walks in very awkwardly. I smirk at his demeanor.
"Why are you acting like that?"
He points to himself, and I nod.
He shrugs, "I thought you would still be mad at me, so I'm keeping a safe distance."
I kiss my teeth when he decided to sit next to me on the bed.
"You know they are really sorry, right?" he spoke up.
I sigh, "I'm not really mad, it's just...I can handle my own." And sit up, "I know I may not make the best decisions. But, when the consequences come forward, I don't need my brothers or you trying to save me all of the time."
He nods his head. "Yeah, I understand."
"Anyways, I don't want to even think about Brandon anymore."
He shifts his gaze to me.
"How long are you gonna be with us for? Mom said you were doing the Christmas game."
"Yeah, I'll be gone the day after Christmas. Playoff game."
"Uhh, yeah I know, you ready?"
"I guess, but I'm not really worried about that. All I care about is finding a gift for Ma."
"You still ain't get her a gift?" I asked.
"Naw, come with me tomorrow so we could find one for her?"
"Sure."
