Epilogue| Destiny

A little over four months later.

Tears slowly coursed down my face, hands shook against my skin. Clearly in an awe of words of what I'm feeling right now in this moment. Balled up in the corner of my bathroom, pregnant... extremely pregnant. And you probably wondering how I figured it all out.

For the last two weeks, I've been really sick. Alarming headaches, sensitivity to certain smells, and throwing up my dinner for the last two nights. Now, I thought I just caught the stomach bug or something. But after being in New York for a short business trip this past weekend. I decided to be funny and take a pregnancy test while I was there. This funny joke quickly turned serious after it came back positive and so did the other three I took after panicking about that one.

So after my flight back home yesterday, I quickly booked an appointment with my OB for this afternoon. She clarified for me again, that I was pregnant.

Leading back to me here, on this cold Monday evening, staring at an ultrasound picture of the tiny human growing inside me. Alone, I might add, Trevor has a game tonight in Cleveland, oblivious to the hormonal being that I'm turning into right now. I was going to try to make it to the game, but my body feels very weak after crying for thirty minutes.

I know Trevor is going to be excited about this baby, and it's not that I'm not excited too, but I'm just scared that I might be a shit mother. I do have my father's blood running through my body.

Finding the strength to lift myself off of the floor and into the bed. Still holding the picture close to my chest, I just need to relax. Turning on the tv to the sports channel, trying to figure out which one is showing Trevor's game. As soon as it flipped to Espn, Trevor was being shown on the camera doing drills with some of his teammates. It hurts my heart that he is so far away from me at this moment, I just want to tell him already, seeing his reaction will definitely warm my heart.

...

After the game ended I kind of just sat there and watched the commentators speak about how tonight's win was okay but if the Bengals wanted to be a solid team. We needed to work on our defense, not even realizing what I was doing, so wrapped up in my head. Finally switch the channel to Bravo playing Real Housewives reruns,  when my phone chirped.

Trev: Hey baby, you feeling ok?

Trev: I ain't see you at the game

Me: Yeah, just feeling a little under the weather. I forgot to text you I wasn't coming.

Trevor: It's cool, you need your rest, omw home. Love you.

Trev: I'm bringing food too if your hungry

Me: Thank u, love you too, drive safe.

After about two episodes of RHONJ went by, my husband burst into our bedroom. With a duffle bag over his shoulder, a large chickfila bag in one hand, and a drink in the other hand.

"Aww, look at my baby," he walked up to the bed. He frowned, "You feeling a little under the weather."

As he gets closer I could smell the milkshake on his breath, "Eww, why do you smell like peaches?"

who even drinks peach milkshakes?

"Cause I'm drinking a peach milkshake," he spoke after taking another pull from the straw. Scrunching up my nose at him, he spoke again, "It doesn't even have a strong smell."

Sitting up on the bed, "Yes, it does." He handed me the bag of food, quickly taking out the food items. When I look up, Trevor was just watching me closely. "Why you looking at me like that?"

With zero hesitation, he spoke, "You've been crying."

Shaking my head quickly, "No I haven't," hiding my face from him.

"Yes, you have," lightly grabbing my chin. "What's wrong, baby?"

I sigh, clearing my throat, mumbling, "I'm pregnant."

He lowers the cup from his mouth, straw poking out of his lips. He grumbles, "What?" Letting the excess milkshake drip on his shirt.

Kissing my teeth, "Trev, you're ruining your clothes." Finding a napkin to clean his shirt, seems like I already got a toddler right here.

He holds my wrist, "What did you say, Nini?"

He holds my stare, "I'm pregnant, Trevor, I took some tests in New York, and they came back positive. So, I went to my doctor when I came home-" pulling out the ultrasounds pictures from under the duvet. "-she confirmed it. We're having a baby.

His eyes begin to water, I told y'all he would be excited. "Finally, I've been cumming in you since our wedding day."

"Trevor," I grumbled, hitting his shoulder. "You always gotta say something stupid."

see what I be talking bout?

"Sorry, baby, I'm just too excited," pressing kisses all along my face. Then, standing up at the edge of the bed, extending his arms and screaming, "WE'RE HAVING A BABY."

Rolling my eyes at him.

"Go ahead and eat, baby. You gotta eat for two now."

"That's if your baby lets me eat. I've barely been able to keep anything down for the last couple of days."

He hums, "The morning sickness started already...oh lord," he changes his clothes in the closet as I eat anyways.

...

Lying in bed together, it's around 12 am, just sitting here talking about our future while Trevor's hands massage my belly. I think his presence just calms me, with all of this talk about us having a kid, it's not scary when I think about doing it with him.

"So, I gotta ask, was the crying happy tears or sad ones?"

"I was a little scared about it at first, I just want our children to grow up with happy parents and not even a once of what I had during my childhood."

"I understand, baby. But, there is nothing I won't do to make sure that you and our child are safe and happy, okay?"

"Okay," I whispered.

"I love you, Mrs. Walker," kissing my lips.

"I love you too, Mr. Walker."

...

"I'm pregnant," I squealed.

"Shut up," my mother yelled while Diana sat there with her mouth wide open.

Jayda was in the corner crying, while my brothers, Dan, and my stepdad seemed unfazed. Trevor definitely told all of their asses.

"Congratulations, sweetie," Diana perked up, hugging me.

"Thank you."

After that, a round of hugs came from everybody.

"Do you guys know the gender yet?" Marcus asked.

Nick responded, "No idiot, they just found out they were having a kid."

"I don't know how this stuff works."

Eric spoke up, "Will you boys stop bickering and it doesn't matter what gender the baby is knowing these two-" pointing to my mom and Diana. "-that baby is going to be very spoiled."

"You damn right," my mother said after sipping her wine.

I just know my baby won't have a day of peace living with this family.
